8.
Well, my 300/4.0L was within arms reach over the weekend when this Eastern Bluebird showed up. Funny to watch because I used to have a mealworm feeder posted in that same spot, and had just replaced it with that broken piece of tree trunk to have a natural looking perch. Landed on it...looked down expecting there to be mealworms...then gave me "The Look" as if to say:
"could ya put the camera down for one minute and give us some food" ?

 9.
Yes, something like that...depending on cloud conditions / dynamics on a given day, the light show might run as long as 30 minutes, but 15-20 minutes has been the norm for me

 10.
Not even a full set of close up photos ??
Then personally...I wouldn't even consider it...truly buying a pig-in-a poke sight unseen like that.
I'd figure out some way to save up another $100+ bucks and get one from a seller with a full set of close-up photos, a clearly documented "condition statement", a higher condition rating, etc...and of course a no questions asked return policy.
Your mileage may vary...

 11.
Amen to the FDn 400/4.5...with my interests being nature & wildlife, it is one of my most used lenses.
$260 seems below the normal range for sure.
Does the AD specifically make statements about such things as:
Any internal fungus?
Oil on aperture blades?
Slop / over-travel of the focusing collar?
Does it focus at infinity?
If not, I'd at least ask those specific questions...in writing (Email).
Then with that return policy, I guess your only risk would be the return shipping then...if you get it, really put it through its paces that first week-10 days and you should know.

 12.
Speaking only for myself, I'd need to know more to give a reasonably informed answer.

ie: what lens is it?
What does it usually sell for?
Is it comparatively / extremely lower priced than normal so it might be worth the risk?
Is there a no questions asked return policy?
etc.

Without that other sort information to go into the decision making process...just on the face of their description I wouldn't be interested in it.

 13.
And not to be outdone by its 1/2 Moon Brother...last night's clear, cold, dry atmosphere here gave a great look at the 3/4 Moon.

 14.
The Canon FDn 300/4.0L and FD 2x-A is a great combination.

Sky was clear enough last night to catch January's Waxing Half Moon

 19.
Canon FDn 300/4.0L + Canon FD 2x-A Tele-Extender

First time in 38 years (since 1977) that the Full Moon has coincided with Christmas day.
Didn’t look like I was even going to be able to see the moon much less shoot it with all our days of constant rain & heavy clouds / overcast.
But at 7:00pm tonight, I noticed the rain tapering off, the overcast separated, and to my complete surprise the moon appeared in the opening right overhead.
I was able to run out, set up and shoot it from my driveway...won’t happen again in my lifetime.

 20.
Canon FDn 17mm/4.0 is fantastic...has really opened up a lot of new opportunities.

Infrared shot of another small cove, IR colors SOOC.

 21.
Couldn't believe my eyes when I came upon this little cove under these perfect conditions...and my initial reaction of wow excitement & anticipation was immediately replaced with anxiety & worry that the sunlight would fade or the wind would come up while I was scrambling around through the brush at water's edge trying to find a good angle and get set up...luckily everything held fast.

 22.
Canon FDn 17/4.0 UWA

Really liking this 17mm.
Found another little cove yesterday with a dead calm surface for a great mirror effect in this Infrared shot.
It was almost too tight & cramped for the 17mm...would have been completely out of the question without it.

 23.
Canon FDn 17 / 4.0 UWA

Hiked back in to a different cove at a local lake before dark today in hopes of some good sunset possibilities.
Still experimenting with the 17mm I recently picked up and managed to get this right after the sun went down.
