1.
Canon FDn 400/4.5

Female Eastern Rufous Sided Towhee dropped by for a visit.
Normally a ground bird, rare opportunity for me to get a clean view of one on a branch like this.

 2.
Steven Endo, Jun 23, 2016; 12:36 p.m.

If the BT-72 hood is substantially cheaper, perhaps buy one of those and cut it down?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks, but hoods for SWA and UWA lenses have substantially more flare than those for teles.
I've had one on my 17mm since I got the lens...and actually have a fine metal screw-in hood on my 20mm...just had the thought I might get another Canon BW-72 for the 20mm as well if I could run across one at a reasonable price.

 3.
Ben Myerson, Jun 23, 2016; 10:12 a.m.

They are expensive because they are rare because they were an optional extra not supplied with the lens and it's more than 25 years since they were manufactured, supply and demand.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks...well aware of supply & demand...as well as history...been using FD lenses since the 80's.
And supply & demand cuts both ways...its not a good enough hood for my demand to pay $89.00...LOL

 4.
Checked the classifieds and found none.
Wondering if anyone knows where I could find a Canon BW-72 Hood for the 17/4.0 - 20/2.8 size wide angle lenses?
( EBay has one but its listed at a nosebleed price :) )

 6.
I just realized something with the eye of the Doe in my photo above. She was about 100' away, just inside the woods-line...if you look close at the reflection in her eye, you can see some trees surrounding an opening, and through that opening our white house / black roof with blue sky above it. :)

 12.
Canon FDn 80-200/4.0-L

We’ve all seen the occasional dead log with a few colorful ‘Fungi’ growing on it.
Hiking in to the Osprey nest yesterday I came across a dead-fall, down since my last hike a few days ago.
I have never in my life see a 6’ log with every square inch of it so completely / heavily packed with rows of colorful Fungi.
Light & shadows were playing back and forth over it due to the wind through the overhead tree limbs / leaves.
This one will be going in a 6 slot 8x10 display frame for sure.

 13.
Maybe the one you have has been worked on and possibly some other screen, like from a T70 or something was used...dunno

 16.
Good shot...have begun looking into the possibility of an FDn 500/4.5-L myself

 17.
< snip > from Alex:

".....This month I've decided to celebrate the Canon FDn 70-150/4.5. Though not an L lenses it is a stellar performer, as a number of you have pointed out. It build quality is also outstanding....."

It really is amazing...this month of May the plantings at the local Arboretum really explode and I plan to go weekly now for a while...the Canon FDn 70-150/4.5 will be the main lens I use.

 18.
Canon FDn 80-200/4.0-L

Thunderstorms were forecast around sundown the other day, went to a local lake in hopes of seeing something interesting and wasn't disappointed.

This area of the thunderstorm cloud blanket opened up a little, the setting sun poured down through, then it closed back up, all in the space of just a few minutes...interesting action to witness.

 19.
Canon FDn 300/4.0-L + Canon FD 2x-A Tele-Extender
Over-the-counter 30+ year old Canon FD lenses never cease to amaze me.

04/16/16 PM 68% Waxing Moon...saw it sitting up there last night, had to shoot it.
Quarter million miles away, traveling 1200 mph.

 21.
Again...the excellent Canon FDn 70-150/4.5

Blossom on a bush at the Arboretum...(nameplate called it "Weeping Magic").

 22.
Canon FDn 70-150/4.5.
A 30+ year old, inexpensive, moderate speed, push/pull zoom...which actually works backwards from most...continues to make me shake my head at its outstanding IQ. The moderate 4.5 max aperture is a non-issue with good light and/or a sandbag / tripod. Excellent color, sharpness, bokeh...doesn't even have 'Macro Mode', yet zooming up this Yellow Rhododendron shows hairs on the stems sharp as a tack.

 23.
Lucked out...there was a lot of light & shadow play from overhead branches...15-20 minutes earlier or later probably would have been altogether different.

 25.
Canon FDn 300/4/0-L

It seems the Red Shouldered Hawk has found a temporary home as it was back again yesterday afternoon.
