I think this image really stands out. At least it was the first to catch my eye while browsing your postings. The bold colors of the subject while the background is subdued... very nice.
-
I like the blue reflected in the water, and how it contrasts the reds on either side. The branch at the top of the frame with it's hard angles and solid color also contrasts with the multi-colored softness of the flora. I would think about maybe framing the bottom with the railing of the bridge so that I didn't feel like I was standing in the creek.
-
I would like feedback on the effectiveness of the creation of this image. There were several areas where the two images did not match up in tone and I would like your opinon of the result.
Thanks,
-Kris

The first installment of our projection assembly is a little prone to internal reflections. So it was necessary to use two photos together to have one without too much visible flaring.
To make this image:

Is the orientation of this elk a problem?

The soft focus, or maybe the mist, give this photo a nice happy feeling. I bet if you printed it on canvas it would look like a painting.

I met this little one horned wasp on a hike one day. Does anyone
know what it is called?
-
Do you think the small intruder to the left of the flower adds to
the image or detracts? I _could_ have taken it before he landed...
but I didn't and the larger beetle left just after he arrived.
Thanks

I like the composition, and the subject. The lines are pleasant. I think you might try a little more contrast, either in lighting or printing, to exaggerate the shadows a tad.

I agree that the hinge of the glasses detract a little from the image, but I would not remove the glasses for this shot. The lighting used would leave the bare eye unsupported and 'floating'. The frame of the glasses ties it to the rest of the face. I also like the soft focus.

I'd like to hear what you think about this image.

I don't really know what to say that hasn't already been said. I just want my voice in the crowd that has proclaimed this a wonderful image :). I like the balance and the play between the light and dark regions.
-
I think the lighting, texture and color all come together to help create this 'creature in a tree'. Good eye.

I would like to hear your comments on this photo. I was trying some
new things with processing (and lighting) to create a charcoal look
for this image. Did it work? Should I have even tried?
Thank you,

I've always had problems with HP5+'s contrast. There never seems to be enough. I'll upload the original scan tomorrow for use as a comparison.
--Update-- I posted the original in the same folder.
Thank you for your comments.

I was wondering if this image is successful in creating any
particular moods for you, and if so, which ones. Any other comments
are also very welcome.
Thank you,

I would like to hear what you have to say about this photo. I am
rather attached to it considering how difficult it was to obtain (my
camera and I were attacked more than once), and I am looking for a
few unbiased opinions.
Thank you,

Looks like the eye is looking into a monitor which shows a picture of an eye. Assuming this is what is going on, I think that you could improve the image to make this stand out.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this photo. Is the small DOF
distracting? Is the background too busy? etc.
Thanks,

I prefer the "colors" in this one, as well as the vertical lines. I like the other print for its lack of the dark section at the upper right. With that cropped out it has a feeling that the stairs continue forever... and I think the darkness of it takes away from the two figures.
-
I definately agree, the placement of the drop in the bottom of the print was a good choice. I also like the vastness of the black to the right.
-
This photo was taken on expired film from a point and cardboard camera. Due to the age of the film, the print had very little contrast, and had a significant purple-ish color cast. I have modified the scan with photoshop.
My question is, "what do you think of this image?" Do you think that the photoshop work was overdone? Is the final image pleasing to you? What do you like, what don't you like?
Thank you for your responses. -
This is wonderful. I love the backlighting, and you were able to keep detail in the dark areas too! I might think about cropping the foreground a little; it doesn't add anything to the photo.
