<p>Dick - did Chrome fail in general or just photo.net? My issue yesterday was with Chrome in general - it actually wasn't specific to pnet.<br /><br />Pnina - you don't see the "contribute to critique" at the bottom? When I click your link, I see it. </p>

<p>Just to close the loop on this - it doesn't look like it was a site-wide problem, thankfully. In my case, it was only happening in Chrome (Safari and Firefox were fine). After my browsing history was cleared, all was well. To do this, you'd simply go up to the top right where the three horizontal lines are. Click <strong>Tools > Clear Browsing Data</strong> and then uncheck the boxes except for <strong>Cached Images and Files</strong>. </p>

<p>If you have had an issue with photo uploading, can you provide the URL for the page that you are having trouble with, what you expect to see, and possibly a screen shot of what you do see? Thanks. This may not be a site-wide issue (hopefully!). </p>

<p>There was a report that a member couldn't upload photos. I had an issue as well in just one browser (Chrome) as well. Has anyone been unable to upload photos in the last day or two? Meaning, the site didn't display the <strong>+ More Files</strong> button? </p>

<p>Jin just responded too - he beat me to the punch. I'll start a separate thread about the photo uploader issue - indeed it is separate from the thread Bela started.</p>

<p>I, too, just had an issue with the photo uploader which I think is related to what you wrote about, Pnina. Will update when I know more. </p>

<p>Was hoping it was a one-off when you first wrote a few days ago, Bela. Apparently it isn't, though I am wondering how many others are experiencing this. It is being looked at now - we are aware and will report back/ask more questions if need be. Pnina - I'm unclear if your issue is related to the initial thread title or something separate - are you getting error messages that Bela is getting? If not, it is better (in the future) to start a separate thread because it gets confusing. </p>

<p>Thanks for the heads up - we haven't experienced any issues here today (though there was an issue last week). This has been flagged. Anyone else having issues today? </p>

<p>Great responses here. If you mean gear, then just a camera. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. I've seen terrible photos with super fancy cameras...and really fantastic photos with lower-end cameras. If it is a DSLR, a general knowledge of of aperture, ISO, and shutter speed is helpful. Aside from that, a safe place for the camera (i.e. camera bag) is also on the must-have list, as is a memory card for that camera. Nice to have items would be a basic photo book (or a book based on what they enjoy...such as food photography or nature photography...) and Lightroom, but a beginner doesn't really need Lightroom either. Shout if you are looking for more specific answers. </p>
