Is there going to be a Photo of the Week this week?
carashilaire replied to Norma Desmond's topic in PhotoNet Site Help

It was an accident - there will definitely be a new one up tomorrow! Sorry, gang!
-

I completely missed this in time for your trip, but a little known secret - Deer Island in Winthrop also offers skyline views and you can watch the planes land as well. You'll need a good telephoto, though!

If you are already heading to the White Mountains, the vistas on the Kancamagus Highway are a must-see! There are other lovely towns to drive through in New Hampshire as well, such as Hancock and Peterborough in the lower part of the state - and certainly Portsmouth over on the coast. If you can make it up the Maine Coast, it is so beautiful! Bar Harbor/Acadia are probably a bit far, but well worth it. I found another article listing small towns in the NE to visit, including some visuals.
http://www.buzzfeed.com/adamdavis/charming-small-new-england-towns-you-absolutely-need-to-v
Hope you have a great time!

Andy Murphy - did you use an app to process? The colors are so bright and happy, especially for indoor shots!

If there is interest, I'd be happy to add a weekly thread here.

We attempted to start a POW thread a while back to share any recent mobile photos you want to share. I'm going to safely guess at least half of the photo.net audience owns a mobile phone and takes photos more and more frequently with it. I know I certainly end up taking a ton of photos with my iPhone because it is the camera that is always in my pocket. Let's each share our favorite from this past month!

My very first iPhone, a new 5s! Favorite iOS7 apps?
carashilaire replied to studio460's topic in Phone & Mobile

I just downloaded VSCO Cam and I'm enjoying it very much. I use my iPhone to document my daily life (at this time, I'd never use it for shooting a wedding, serious food photography, or non-snapshot photos though more and more people are), so the picture aspect is important to me. I like the minimalist--yet pretty--processing. I'm also going to download Lightroom for iPhone as well, which was another recently announced product.

Cameleon and PicTapGo are other photo apps that I have and enjoy.

And then OF COURSE there is Pandora (music), Sudoku (many Sudoku apps), and MapMyRun (if you are a runner or walker), my three other favs!
-

On-line tutorial recommendations?
carashilaire replied to catharine_kent's topic in Beginner Questions

Definitely not free, but KelbyOne will have videos (for a very reasonable monthly fee): http://kelbyone.com/.

CreativeLive is good too. For example, if you had a Nikon D610, they have a video that takes you through it for $29. https://www.creativelive.com/courses/nikon-d600-dslr-fast-start-john-greengo

I think you'll have a tough time finding a free video that is worth your time. It takes time and effort to produce a video and there aren't many that will simply give that away for free.
-

Congrats, Athena! The first everything is difficult - it is inspiring that you stuck to it! Well done!
