This summer a eurasian dotterel stayed for a few days on the dutch island
of Terschelling. They are not very common. This juvenile was very
photogenic. It actually has several ground beetles walking on it's bill.

Very nice indeed!
The only comment which I could give is to straighten the bar they (sunbirds?) are sitting on.

Thank you for your compliments!
I agree with you that the shadows might distract. Indeed, the shadow on the bottom at the right side is distracting, because you can see that it is cause by an object with an edge (in this case the crate on which I put my camera to stabilize it, having no tripod with me). However, the shadow in the middle (which is caused by me) I do not find distracting. I causes an opening in the light on the grass to turn your focus to the horizon and the coming light.
I'll have another try tonight!

A different setting of a barn owl. This was during a training and she got her
treat after she flew back. Although this photo shows that she is held, that
she is in contact with people and that she is a captured bird, there seems
to be a joy, about eating her treat which I wanted to capture.

On the salt marsh of Schiermonnikoog, the Netherlands a group of
researchers stayed the night to catch birds. When morning came, I wanted
to catch the first light with my camera. It turned out that the light coming
from the tent gave a lovely effect on the grass.

I agree that 1/13 is a bit weird. During this session I changed my settings, so my camera would automatically set everything. The idea was to shoot the owner of this horse while riding, so the photo's didn't need to be perfect. But this photo turned out to be, in my opinion, quite a nice photo!
However, the F of 1/13 does give the DOF in which the entire eye including eyelashes are sharp. I have made many pictures of horse-eyes, but most of them with 1/5.6 to 1/9.0 have indeed a smaller DOF. At least, that is what I believe. I should try it out in a series of photos.

Heerlijk zomerse foto!

I agree with you that this is the nicest of the 3. The position is slightly different than one would normally position the sanderling and its reflection. It gives the feeling there is so much more underneath the watertable, which is the case: there is its food.
Is there a possibility that you can get the back of the bird a bit more grey instead of white? The back seems to blend in with the background, but I guess it's just because I haven't got a very good screen.

Bit of (biological) background info, which is one of the reasons I shot this
photo. Colorado beetles damage potato plants. At some point they can
become a plague. However nasty, these beetles on these flowers seem
simply beutiful, colourful and give me the feeling of summer. But because
they can become a plague, this one ended up dead...

Keep trying and you'll learn it! Everyone has to start somewhere with editing!

What do you think of this photo? It is the eye of a Haflinger. I put her hair in
front of her eye on purpose, so you would not see my reflection and to give
it this dreamy air.

Hi,
I also so your other photo which turned out magenta.
This one is better, although I believe you saturated the reds-magenta's to much, which results in the cat having two sdifferent coloured eyes. Also the nose is too pink. The fur is also a little yellow.
Here you can see what I did. I shifted your reds slightly to yellow and I de-saturated you yellow, which turns your cat white again. Although the eyes still remain in different colours. This is my suggestion. I hope its helpful.

I love this photo! The expression of the cat, the DOF.
There's only one thing bothering me: this blue-greenish thin in front of the cat, with some other colours left of it. I can't make out what it is. If you'd crop it a little, so that most of the white-ish left of this object is gone, it would already bother me less. But that's just my personal opinion.

Simply fabulous!

Yes, I've been standing there aswell, wishing I had my camera with me. It's such a beautiful station.
A pity that the curve, the angle is slightly off center...

The idea is very nice: the ducks seem to be looking at themselves in the water. The sharp background distracts however. It took me a while to really see at what I was looking. It could be fixed a little by cropping the picture. I added an example of how to focus more on your subjects. Another possibiltiy in cropping would be to delete part of the top of the photograph.

Nice photo! Simple background. I would prefer to include more of the tree, which would center the owl more, or leave the stem out as much as possible. Very unfortunate that its head is in the shade, then it would have been a lovely photograph!

During an event I shot this photograph. I like the blues and greens in it.
Although I would have preferred the sun on the other side, as you now only
see the shadowy side.

In this photo I tried to capture the connection between this Shire stallion
and it's owner.
