Everything just seems to be right: the colours, the background, the focus and also the attitude of the bird! Nice work! 

The old dutch name for the European Goldfinch is (literally translated)

"Thistle Finch", therefore the finch perched on top of a thistle gives an extra

"background". Or that was what I thought. This photo is quite cropped

already, I wouldn't want to crop it even further...

Wondering what your comments would be!

This photo was shot on the ferry between Den Helder and Texel, the

Netherlands. It sat behind the bars and those bars seemed to frame it's

head nicely.

Very beautiful photo! Very nice contrast with the background and especially very sharp! 

If I could say one thing which is a detail: the tip of the toe is missing. But that's not really significant.

This is the original photo, nothing is cropped. I checked the other photo's I made of these jackdaws again just now. I also have picture where there is only one bird in it, but because the background doesn't have a lot of colour, those picuters were rather dull (in my opinion). I liked the idea of having the bird in front "shadowed". 

Lovely picutere, nice DOF. The brownish colour of the robin is the same as in the background and in the rock. In a sense that's beautiful, it creates a "geheel". But it also creates a rather bleak impression of the photo. It could use just a touch more colour or contrast.

Still, it's a beautifal picture!
