Hi everyone! I have been struggling for a really long time to get
close enough to a hawk with my point and shoot to get a good shot.
Unfortunately, it was when a hawk was on a chain link fence. So, I
would love opinions on this shot that I have cropped. Also any editing
and shooting tips would be greatly appreciated. I am still very new to
photography.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Grayham
Thanks so much for your edit. It is easier for me to see the changes suggested than to read them....so, I am pretty sure I get what you mean.
Not sure about it being a noble attempt though.....was out looking for wildlife to shoot, saw none and have been trying some landscape shots. When I uploaded it, it seemed like I had something worthwhile
I appreciate your time and comments always!

Thanks Grayham!
I appreciate you taking the time to point out some things to me :)
I like the DOF, too. It is hard to get it with the point and shoot unless I can get really close to the subject

Hi everyone. I am new to photography and am trying to improve my
shooting and editing skills. I would love to get some feedback on this
shot. I cloned out flower parts by head, beak and belly of the hummer
to make him stand out more.
I currently am using a Coolpix P90
Thanks in advance!

This is spectacular!

This is incredible! I am just learning about photography, and I could be wrong, but this looks like PERFECT composition to me! As well as having perfect lighting and unbelievable detail. I added this to my favorites, Steve!

If you shot this in RAW you can recover the details in the blown out white. A great shot, IMHO

For me, the cage is a huge distraction

Thanks everyone for taking the time to post a critique! Someone else pointed out the noise to me, as well. I hadn't seen it at all. I think maybe saturation may have caused it? It is exciting to "see" lighting. I really don't know how to describe it. I don't think you have to shoot birds to be able to comment on a bird pic, BTW :)
I am trying to make the most out of the coolpix although I am eager to get a DSLR. Right now I only have a part time job, my glasses are superglued together and I don't even have a car LOL. So it's not going to happen in the near future.
I have no clue what "fringing" is.....
