1.
If you are fairly sure that nature photography will become a serious hobby, the D750 would be a very appropriate purchase. Its technology is new and should be useful for at least several years. I disagree that your lenses aren't appropriate for nature, as my older 80-200/2.8 AFS and other older lenses including a 500/4 AFI still produce very reasonable quality images when used with my D700 and D800 and I do a lot of nature shooting between 28 and 200mm. 28mm is wide angle on an FX body. Sure you might want to get something to cover even wider angles, but what you have does not have to be traded immediately for more modern glass. Yes the lenses are heavy, but you can choose what to carry and you can also do a lot of nature photography with your photo gear in the back of your vehicle.

  3.
Fascinating lifecycle fact on the luna - flies only at night and adult moth lives for only a week with the sole purpose being mating.
Responses don't seem to be posting, so I apologize if this comes up multiple times once it posts.

    Bird ID

Too big and not the right body markings for a snow goose. Other than the white heads they look like Canadas. Would agree that these are most likely a Canada/domestic cross.

  5.
Not sure this is the way I would persoanlly go, but either way I would be very catious about whether these would work for getting your tripod inside the bag. I would only buy something that lists "internal" dimensions that are greater than 16.75".

  6.
Shun is correct. This looks like a captive. I have seen this bird at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI. I vaguely remember them being a little aggressive if you got near the fence. And also this tendency to run/jump/bounce as if they were performing. Very interesting bird. There is one subspecies in Western Africa, small population, declining and a second subspecies in Eastern Africa, larger population and probably stable.
https://www.savingcranes.org/black-crowned-crane.html

  7.
Right now they only show refurbished for Pixibytes.
An in my mind, their rating of 93% is a red flag.

  8.
I think Amazon would likely help you get a refund if necessary. But that probably isn't going to be a very good risk, as you have to order, pay, wait and hope that it is exactly what you want and if it isn't you have to hassle with asking for a refund. You'll probably get it, but it might be difficult and delayed, and you may also be stuck with paying for the return shipping. I am always looking for the best deals, but I'd probably pass on this one.

  9.
B&H doesn't deserve any criticism on this and I'm sorry they received it by the OP. You can't do better with an online retailer than B&H.
I have similarly made an order quickly and been upset with the shipping method only to find out I didn't take the time to notice and choose the right option. Might make me mad, but it's my fault and can't be blamed on the retailer.

  10.
Just to clarify, I am not worried about the expiration date printed on the mailers as I know that doesn't mean anything. My concern is the fact the Fuji is apparently no longer going to be supporting developing of their film via the mailers after 12/31/14.

  11.
I just noticed that Fuji slide film processing mailers are apparently only good through 12/31/14. I have about 40 of them and there is no way I will shoot that much film in the next 2 months. I'm assuming they will be totally worthless after that time. Any knowledge that anyone has otherwise? Thanks.

  12.
Can't refute the comment that white is a bad color as mentioned above, but I'd disagree that red is bad. I have a bright red Ford Fusion and I've had no trouble getting close to herons, sandhill cranes, hawks and eagles to name a few. In the case of any of the mentioned species, as soon as they see a door open and a human figure start to appear they are gone. There may be minor advantages related to color, make, sound, etc. but I suspect they are not very great.

  13.
It would help a lot if we knew what you were going to be doing in Africa and for how long.
