  1. It is hard for us all to be our brothers keepers and not get into trouble. This man is being ignored by the routine of our apathy in cities of millions. This man is in such a position that he looks homeless and/or drunk but he is somebody's little boy and may just be ill and need assistance. We are like the people of the image looking away most of the time. I think we need to ask is it possible to do more for our fellow man without robbing him of his sense of responsibility for himself in the long run.

The image is a perfect dilemma we know we all have been in!!!!!

  2. It is unknown to the viewer whether this poor man was being laughed at for an outlandish speech or is it just his appearance. I would bet he got knocked off his soapbox and was in pain over the hooting and some of those laughing are really not cruel rich people but they are just trying to make light of the moment so the upset hooted off speaker doesn't take it so seriously. I have seen scenes like that at speaker's corners and in 1975 classism was not flouted in mixed groups in public.

I do also see many in the background in dismay for the man's situation and whether that is his long term poverty, mental state, or short term lose of the crowd's attention is unclear.

I like not knowing as much as knowing because it makes me think. But, on the other hand, if you e-mail the real low down, I promise not to say a word.

  3. I came to this site with a predisposition not in your favor; however, your portfolio is more than wonderful. I think YOU should really think about the influence your images show from Gene Smith. You document everything and not just moments and manage to get an artistic composition with most of your areas completely under control by your perspective, framing, and DOF abilities even in very rough spots.

The reason I had a little bit on my mind with you was that the POW should not be hijacked for anyone's personal forum. I saw a dozen of your posts on Peter Christophs POW thread and I would like you to think about limiting yourself to 1 or 2 posts on someone else's thread.

I have been as guilty as you of any breach of the best ettiquette and fairness when pushed also so I do not want this to come off as a reprimand.

This family portrait is so real. The dog is just a WOW but the picture from behind almost has us see their point of view and it is quite bucolic. The mood of relaxation with loved ones is very rich here.

I would hang this in my living room and enjoy it forever- that is one of my biggest criteria when the word aesthetics is the number one rating item. I think impact instead of aesthethic and originality could probably work better on the forum. If you like that kick it around with some others.

Excuse me as I go over to other images of yours .

    Best Regards,

It would be nice if you could remember the name of the place above, and the lighting you have choosen plus framing takes away from the impressive nature of this grand place.
  4. I love the sharpness of all the smallest feathering details. The placement of the bird in the frame is perfect.

I invite you to look at my BIRDS OF SANIBEL in my portfolio here and at my web site

All the energy and time I spent here has convinced me not to bother again.

Ninety percent of what was said was "listen to me and honor my words because I did not get the Honor of the Week". The people who came on most are those with tremendous recognition needs that could never be filled with a POW or #1 rating in any case for the truth known by Buddha and all wise philosopers is this:

HONOR IS NOT IN BEING HONORED. HONOR IS IN ACTING WITH HONORABLE INTENTIONS AND CREATIVE INTELLEGENCE FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS NOT YOURSELF.

I CONGRATULATE PETER!!!YOUR SELF CONTROL AND THAN ATTEMPT TO AID SOMEONE BEING BULLIED SHOWS YOU WERE THE MOST HONORABLE MAN HERE. CONTINUE IN THIS HONORABLE PATH AND WHATEVER HONOR THAT COMES YOUR WAY MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THAT YOU ARE HONORABLE.

I believe the pose is somewhat classical but also evokes a lovely sweat sexual reaction as well. Good taste has been kept here as has gracefulness.

On one hand you have your critical focus, probably automatic, on the tree in the foreground so the cliffs are a bit soft. You can manuelly focus when a near object seemingly off to the side reaches the middle focus box; or, you can use a tripod and make a timed exposure with the smallest possible aperture ( and slow long time).

On the other hand, I love the way the cliffs look painted and the soft quality actually delights me.

I hope I made a sharp point for those fixated on sharpness first always!!!!

I love the trees, house, and valley in this shoot. Your looking down point of view shows the critical importance of a choice perspective for arranging those elements in a triangle relationship with that shape having diagonal line play between them giving this image dynamic IMPACT!!!!!
