Any critique appreciated.

Thanks for any critique.

Very nice geometry. I like it.
Firstly, on the thumbnail I thought it was just a wall taken at one or two meters. Then, after looking at the middle sized picture, I understood this was ... much bigger !
I love this "texture". Nice contrast.

I think the composition works because the two birds look at the right direction. If the left bird had looked towards the left, the picture wouldn't have been interesting.
This said, if the right bird had looked at the left direction, I think it would have been even better ... But you hardly can control this !
By the way, the empty space at the top doesn't bother me.
Nice b&w tones.

Yes, the interesting thing with the clouds is that you can see some high clouds in the background like "still", not moving.
-
Very very good composition. Maybe a little too dark in the shadows for me, but contrast is fine.
Congratulations.

Comparing to "West Wing #2", I prefer this one because of the better balance of masses, and the vertical line at the 2/3rds of the picture.

"... you might be able to bring back some of the detail of the smoke by blending this photo with a second layer, created from a copy of this photo that has an exposure compensation of 1 or 2 stops ..."
:-)))
This is what I did for almost all my pictures (blended sky), and on this one for keeping a lighter plane on the blended dark sky.
I tried to do what you suggested, but the smoke is overexposed on the RAW itself.
-
This is from a RAW, but unfortunately the white smoke is a little overexposed. Nothing else could be done.
Maybe recreating a fake wing by cloning. But I didn't want to go in this type of hassling work just for this picture. I have other pictures I prefer in my portfolio, so I left it as is.
-
I agree about the whitest parts, but the picture was unfortunately a little overexposed.
-
What makes the other picture interesting is also the not so much parallel lines of smoke, like a "vibrating" effect. And the dark sky plays a role too.
-
Thanks for all your congratulations.
Here is a 100% zoom detail of the picture.

Yes, the smoke bothers me too. Unfortunately, I didn't have another picture with two figures like this in the same frame, so ...
-
Is the picture sufficiently descriptive about a pilot that makeseverything he wants of his plane ?
What framing would I have to do otherwise ? (this was originally avertical shot)
Thanks for any critique.

When you first saw this picture, did you think the jet is too small ?

I will never be able to capture this twice in my life.
Taken from a burst of ten pictures while this plane was flying on agrey awful sky. The thick haze helped to cut out much of the sun light.
Thanks for any comments.

Capturing movement is easier when the pilot uses smoke.
Do you think capturing "movement" is impossible without such smoke ?
Thanks for any critique.

Yes, it is always a good idea to go to work in depth around a subject, but I still don't feel very comfortable in 42nd street with all my photo equipment.
Glad you appreciated the picture.
