1.
My pocket camera has a viewfinder besides the LCD display.

I was lucky to buy it before the camers companies dumped the viewfinders.

All my Dslr and film cameras have eye level views.

I have waist level finders for my Exaktas and right angle assessories for the Dslrs.

The arms length cameras do not work in bright sunlight.

 2.
This a response to where NOT to send your Exakta.

I sent my VXiia to International Camera in Chicago, Il.

He installed new curtains and a clean and adjustment.

When I got it back, the slow speed dial did not work.

I sent it back and it was returned in the same condition as I sent it.

I repaired it myself. The cam was installed backwards.

In the repair manual it states to be carfull to install the cam corectly as it can be installed backwards.

 3.
A few of my lenses for various cameras turning a lens ring clockwise

Focus: infinity to near. Schneider Kreuzach, Meyer-Gorlitz Telemegor 5.5/400, Westrogon, Rodenstock-Eurygon

Focus: near to infinity: Meyer-Gorlitz Oreston 1.8:50, Exakta 75-300mm zoom 4:4.5-5.6 (zoom push-pull)

I really hadn’t thought about it until I read this post.
As an aside, my Exaktas VX, VXiia, 2b, VX 500, and VX1000 are all left handed cameras.
My Exakta TTL and RTL 100 can be used either right or left.
My Canons and Minoltas are right handed.

 4.
Hi Andrew

Any help I can give you I will be glad to.

I retired from the News-Press a while ago.

I started as a news Photog in 1960.

I moved from News photo to prepress when I saw where the money was.

Start with the "bathroom darkroom."

It is necessary to have running water.

I did just monocrome photography at home.

If you do b/w you will need D76, Decktol, fixer and stop bath.

Definately you will need a Quality Enlarger.

If you are going to process glossey prints, you will need a set of ferotype plates and squeagy (sp).

Any other tips I can give you I 'll be glad to pass on.

I still have a few books on the subject.

Email me and maybe we can get together.

BTW I enjoy your nature pictures in the News-Press.

 5.
The easiest way to check for pinholes is to remove the lens and open the back.
Shine a flashlight into the front. You will see if there is any holes in the lead curtain.
Cock the shutter. The mirror will be in the way, but enough light will go anound to see if there are holes in the following curtain.
Good luck. Hope they aren't any.
