One of the cons about cameras without a rangefinder is that you can not see the image on the screen in bright sunlight unless that has been improved.

I have a truck load of photographic equipment.
My family is aware of it and tolerates me.
I usually take a small "pocket" digital camera with me that doesn't distract from the festivities.
With all the "smart" phones around, I just blend in.
I use the other equipment for my own pleasure.

You might try to first clean the cap with acetone. You can find it in the drugstore. Fingernail polish remover is 100% acetone. Then use a small drop of superglue.
Acetone will disolve superglue, so allow it to dry compl;etely before using the glue.
I hope this helps.

Good luck.

I never recieved mine.

The Exakta VX series.
Sturdy and fit the hands.
The left hand operation let the stronger right hand free for a more stable platform.

You might look into using a "damp chaser" used in pianos.
It is a small heater that is placed in the piano to keep the sound board from cracking.

I do not understand the rating system.
I have two photos with four ratings.
One has a rating the other has "not enough to count average yet"?

Some of us old timer don't remember where it was shot. ;-)

I have a Topcor 1:5.6 f=300mm made by Tokyo Kogaku in Japan for the Topcon cameras (Exakta mount.)
It does a pretty good job.
I also have an accura MIRROR-ULTRATEL F:8 500mm mirror reflex using a T mount.
If you could find it, a Schnider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 1:5.5/350 and a Meyer-Optic Gorlitz Telemegor 5.5/400. Both made in Germany. I have both.
Be advised that the M-O Gorlitz weighs about 5 pounds!

No.
They have not.
They have not produced an sensor with the dynamic range of film yet.
The digital wave form is a series of steps where as the aniloge wave form is smooth.
The eye can adjust to different light levels.
The brain has the advantage of having 2 eyes.
This gives the brain the advantage to process all the information.

I use battery grips on both of my 350Ds.
I like to shoot verticals without having to swing my elbows out.
It gives a more stable shooting position.
I carry both most of the time.
An 18-55 on one and a 75-300 on the other.
I got tired of having the wrong lens on the camera at the wrong time.

JDM

excellent addition.

You forgot the purpose for the shoot! ;-)

Thanks to all.

BTW the last time I was in Paris was about 50 years ago

Those numbers did not mean amything to me.

Sounds like a movie doesn't it! 8-)

Concerning my cell phone photo I posted, I have a question.

In the “technical details” section, there is a line that says:

ExifGpsLatitude: 48 49 48 48;

I was wondering what that means

I use a Canon PowerShot A1100IS.
It is an older one but it is 12 megapixels and still has a view finder if you need it.

Going viral is like lemmings going over the cliff.
Post something and the lemmings go crazy.
Looks good but does it make any sense.

That is what I was asking about.

Maybe I do not understand, But WHY?

-

I was wonderning why certain members upload multiple exposures of the same subljects.

Some are 10 t0 20 photos.

Maybe a limit on the number of uploads at a one time should be instituded.

I choose the best exposure of the group to upload.

It it looks like a waste of bandwith.

Sarah

You were not derelict in your duties.

You were honest.

I do not judge photo contests.

As a former news photographer I do not appreciate the "artsy" photo.

The photo must have a story.

It must have "punch" to backup the story.

It also must be technically correct.

Mine do not always make the grade.

-

I forgot to add:

Would I hang it on the wall.

-

Is it pleasing to the eye.

Does it tell a story.

Other than that nothing more is important.

-

It could be that they like the "eye contact."

How much effort does it take to get the picture perfect?

I agree with you 100%
As a sports photographer, you learn to anticipate the peak of the action.
