2.
Happy New Year Everyone :-)

 3.
You would probably be better of with a Nikon SB-700 or one of the Nissin Di866 or Di622. These will work with the Nikon CLS flash system that can automatically set the flash intensity for you.

 4.
You can use either DX or FX lenses with the D7100. You can also use AF-D or AF-G lenses.

The AF-G 50mm f/1.8 is a very nice lens

 5.
I took a few pictures of this guy on Boxing Day

 6.
If you have a newer iMac that supports the Thunderbolt interface you can daisy chain several external drives from 1 thunderbolt port. That is what I do with 4 Raid 1 drives (3 TB usable space each)

 7.
Stop down to f/16 or f/22 or f/32 (depending on your lens) at iso 100 and use a flash to light the flower

 8.
I think the rules for tripods are

Heavy and Stable = low cost
Light and Unstable = low cost
Light and Stable = high cost

 9.
Sounds more like the bicycle manufacturer needs a model release to use the images in their advertising...
The manufacturer is spouting nonsense if they think you need a model release from the bicycle manufacturer to use the photos.

 10.
Nikon transfer only lets you see thumbnails to select what to transfer, it is not ViewNX2. ViewNX2 is started up after the transfer is complete.
Just transfer them all and then you can see them full screen in ViewNX2

Or open the pictures on the card (that is in a card reader ) by starting ViewNX2 directly, navigating to the card and opening the pictures directly from the card.
You will have to use a card reader to do this as the Nikon cameras do not let you open the connected camera as a mass storage device (since the D200/D300 era)

 11.
They seem to be suggesting that you can use a cellular equipped tablet as a personal hotspot to that your PC and laptop can use it to connect to the internet.

Why would you want to use a tablet - that is most likely very underpowered - to do your post processing editing work?

I would think that your laptop would be good for an "away from your desk" experience.

The viability of a tablet as a hotspot depends on a several things, how well the tablet works in an "always on" configuration, how good its internal WiFi antenna is - which determines the range from your other equipment, and how much a cellular hub will cost to replace, as opposed to how much a cellular equipped tablet will cost.

 12.
The 50mm 1.8 D lens will not auto focus on the D3200. You would have to buy the 50mm G lens. The G lens is cheap enough and arguably better enough that you should not bother with the D lens.

You can use the dust blowers to remove the large bits, then wipe with lens tissue or a micro fiber cloth. When you get greasy splatters you would need a lens cleaning solution to remove them.

 13.
You could always install Nikon's ViewNX2 or NX-D software. These are free downloads. You can use these to convert and adjust the NEF (RAW) files to TIFF for manipulation in Light Room if you need to.

 14.
playing with a new lens makes up for that :-)

 15.
It was a cold foggy day but ...

 16.
I got a Rokinon/Samyang Tilt-Shift 24mm f/3.5 lens for a birthday present

 17.
a picture of my favourite tiger

 18.
the actual second shot

 19.
A small owl decided to pose for me on Sunday

 20.
I use 32 GB and 64 GB cards in my D800 and find the 64 GB cards more convenient.
Just make sure you have a spare card or two :-)

 21.
Well, the D800 is a terrific camera, so it may be well worth it to get a used one.
