  1. I think you have to consider the fact that the camera you have loaned may be committed to another photographer in need based on your return date. If you send it late he will be upset and I'm sure Canon will hear about it from him and I expect you will hear from Canon.

Ask CPS if an extension is possible and keep your benefits open for the future.

    Take Care, Pete

  2. George another thought is to upgrade your lenses before worrying about the body and be careful to buy the lenses which suit your needs.

fast glass adds a whole new world of learning and sucess once learned.

    High quality lenses as opposed to consumer glass provides the quality to inspire and sell your work [ still based on proper exposure and composistion }

  3. Pew, I have used a 1DMK11 since they came out and often in very low light situations. Always remember focus is achieved by contrast so for ex. don't focus on someones clothes, focus on the eyes.

Another ex. is in low light arena rodeo, don't aim for the horses body but at the halter or the cowboys face ect.

In real low light I only use the single focus box and am always aware of the contrast benefit.

Learn to do this and you will nail almost every shot.

Its just practise and learning. Take Care, Pete

  4. Send it in for an estimate, don't make the mistake I did which was I dropped a 28-135 which became stiff, I kept using it till it locked up one day and then it was too expensive to repair compared to replacement value.

Had I sent it in right away I was told the repair would have been approx. 170.00 cdn.

  5. I have both f2.8 and f4 is versions. IQ is identical in screen and in prints, the only reason for the f4 is for outdoors when I need to wear 2 or 3 camera's and in good light its easier on my neck.

Indoors is always the 2.8 there is no replacing it with the f4 in low light situations such as concerts or corporate speakers.

If I could only have one there would be no question it would be the 2.8.

Whether I'm using the 5D or the 1DMK111 I would rather shoot at 2.8 at 400 iso than raise the iso highher to use the f4.

There are times when even at 3200 iso the 2.8 is not fast enough so there really is only thought you have to worry about,do you need or forsee the need for the speed of a 2.8 lense.

Remember if you chose no and buy the f4 you are limiting yourself if you get in a situation where only the 2.8 will get it done.

The rest of it, IQ, whatever forget about it either you need the speed or you chose not to have it.

  6. Its does exist and is very real, the photojournalists who have been killed have become part of it and not because they stood up to pose somebody.

The image is part of the story not the whole story.

In terms of a tight crop the image is to get you in some cases to be moved and learn more because if moved people might stop making the same mistakes.
