    "Woodpecker"

Neat shot Cory. My I>D> punt from UK would be Northern flicker.(Possible Gilded?) The detail on the log has produced a contrast against the blue sky. Regards miken

  1. Like this one Matt, Although dead centre I would keep the height because under the Horned/Slav gebe are some reflections... maybe take a right hand crop  to leave the grebe " moving " to the left. ? no debris in this shot helps a load . Regards miken

Olexander.. Excellent and thought  provoking work.. the subtle color V  sepia tones are arresting. the balance of  the subjects shoulders  against the bright rail is  neat.. Does it affect me ? .. yes.   Why 374.. ?  why is he looking  at a grating  with a half moon  on it?..  what are the triangular blocks?.. memorials  of his life ? .. or fallen friends ?..  Thanks for a late night think.. Regards  miken

    Fog

Hi Stefano, I enjoyed your vintage series  the venice shot was just like an old photocard. This shot  is neat, well balanced and has the classic foggy mystery  who is that? what is going on . etc Would make a   nice addition  to any room . ( a minor observation on balance... would cropping  the C shape of fog at middle right  help.. it just started to pull my eye of the figure?) I would be happy with this in my  study  on the wall. Regards miken

Hi Avinash Ilike this shot of a very aware Crested serpent eagle, this and the Oriental darter I have yet to add to my bird list. Great shot.. I wish I had your steady hand .. ps did you have image stabilised lens or camera ? Miken
  2. Neat shot Jon. Looks like a solitary flower on a stalk Simple and resful. Have you tried a b/w conversion of this ? A small observation which is probadly not in the rule book ... Crop the bottom left corner so the "stalk " fits into the corner? miken

Hi Avanish. Did enjoy this shot especially as hand held. The position is good which balances the space to the left Good clean detail and a great pose Well done (ps I believe this is an Oriental darter.. if you check with Birds of Kerala? ) Hope the information helps Miken

PS I think it may be my eyes! the shading and slight vignetting may be the reason , but it was only a minor thing . Thanks for your helpful comments Regards miken

Hi Alain. Why so ? Willow grouse is a game bird These need preparing to eat? Why do we buy game in a supermarket all sanitised and ready I would not know how to prepare these birds . and although a bird watcher it does not offend me As for a comment The juxtapostion of the three reds Straps... boards and blood work well, it may be my poor eyes but could it take a small straighten up? Graphic work Miken
