While on a boat safari in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, I spotted this

beautiful bird of prey - probably a kite, perched on a dry stem at a

distance. Pose of the bird with its firmly gripping claws, big, round

& shining eyes, and pointed beak amply reflected bird's alertness &

readiness to strike at its prey. This kite was captured on my DSLR -

Canon 550 D which was hand-held through Canon 70-300 mm L series

telephoto lens. Heavy exposure compensation was used to obtain

adequate contrast despite bright sky.I solicit your valuable comments

& suggestions for improvement of this image.

Hi Avinash Ilike this shot of a very aware Crested serpent eagle, this and the Oriental darter I have yet to add to my bird list. Great shot.. I wish I had your steady hand .. ps did you have image stabilised lens or camera ? Miken
