I really like the tilt here - it works. Also I think adding a person with such a great smile in the foreground is perfect too - it makes what your shot would have been, much, much more interesting. Having her in sharp focus with everything else slightly out works too.....also the tree on the left softens the picture - nice!

What a cute shot - I love how they are all posed....with the one girl in the middle. This makes the shot interesting. Your decision to do it in black and white I think also makes the shot look more authentic. I really love it.

This image caught my attention - first of all the massive wave is amazing....but also the clouds are interesting. The have some lovely light that adds nice balance to the white of the wave. Then you notice the sandy coloured water nearer to the shore.....nice. The dark contrast of the light house to everything else helps it to really stand out. I love it all! Perfect.

I was trying to capture the speed of the cars by getting the dragging
lights look. I found it a challenge to time it all just right to get
cars to be nicely spaced out along the bridge. I wonder now If I
should have aimed to have longer car lights.........what do you think?

I was captivated by this tiny shop in Syria - I had to take the
picture.....but did it turn out just too blah?? I wish there was a
bright red or yellow item to capture your attention. What do you think?

I'm wondering if the picture would be more effective if I cropped in
real close on the left hand flower. I worry that the others don't
stand out so well because of the green background - do you think it's
too distracting?

I really like this picture - especially since you don't notice the man in the top right hand corner immediately.....that's cool! I think I would crop it just a little, to get rid of the blue on the right hand side, just above the balloons in the bottom corner. Since you can't tell what it is - a balloon - or something else, I would just get rid of it. Just a suggestion. Well done otherwise!

Wasn't sure if this was the best category for this picture.....but
what do you think? Is the photo too dark on the bottom right side?

Does this image work? Any comments are welcome.

I feel like you got it! You have taken the picture (it seems) directly below the center so that everything seems symmetrical.....and you have cropped the edges perfectly! The colour looks great and the lighting seems perfect. I don't think you need to return.
Well done.

The thing that really works in this shot is that it is a close up - often people try to capture everything and then you gain nothing. Here, by focusing in up close you have gained a strong point of interest, while leaving interesting things to also look at around the edges of the frame. Nice! I'm wondering what the image looks like in colour - just as a comparison. There just seems to be a little too much white happening and so I can see what the other person meant when they suggested contrast. A brilliant blue sky, with beige (or whatever colour the building is) could be really dramatic.
Very nice job!

I really like how you've left some sky at the top - this adds a nice interest to your photo. The clouds are interesting too - so that works real well. I also love the colour that you've used (I assume you did this after you took the pic?) It adds a nice layer, making the building look very old and majestic. I can't quite get over the thing sticking up at the top left hand corner of the photo. It really bothers me. I can only image it was an oversight, because if you meant it to be there it would be larger and more important (somehow). Perhaps I could suggest cropping the picture? I don't think it would hurt too much.....
Otherwise, excellent job!!

This photo reminds me of home.......I love it! The layers of blue is truly amazing and very calming. The trees in the foreground add the interest to capture the attention of the viewer. I was looking at your personal website (which I love, by the way) and I think you choose the right photo as the front page. Well done!

I feel that the detail in the background is a little too dark - what
do you think? How could I make it lighter without ruining the rest of
the picture? Thoughts? Thanks....

One of my pictures from Indonesia - what do you think? I wish the tree
in the background wasn't there - I think the picture would be stronger
without it....

This picture was taken many years ago in Armenia - I'd love to hear
your thoughts...Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I remember the moment perfectly...which I think is always a clue that the picture will become meaningful (whether others are moved by the moment is yet to be said)....but I remember looking up at the sky and it hit me.....it was just so amazing. Like a movie scene - surreal - very 'alien' like. I just had to stop what I was doing and capture the moment - those are the photographs that mean so much.....and we never forget them. But I am glad that I could share this moment with you too - and that it kind of effected you (as it did me). I think that is what photography is all about!! :0)

This picture has a lot going for it. First of all, the colours are perfect - I really like the simplicity of blues and black. It makes it seem very calming. Second of all, there are a lot of different and interesting things for the eye to see - from the boat full of people on the left to the single man on the right. It makes me ask all sorts of questions, "What are they doing?" "Why is that man all alone?" This draws the viewer in and makes them want to keep looking. Then there is this nice contrast with a tall tower bringing the eye upwards on the right. If that wasn't there, the picture would seem much more flat. I could go on and on....but basically, what I am trying to say is that I would not change anything!! Amazing!

I would love to have some feedback on this picture, as I would like to
make improvement to it, then frame it, and give it as a gift....what
do you think?

I think you should submit this to the monthly project....although the rules state that you must have taken the photo specifically FOR the monthly project - but I think it's PERFECT!! I think if you were to go back, I'd try a few new things.....like taking the picture from a different angle (from the top down, trying to get the neat little pumpkins at the bottom as the background), I would also try to have the background out of focus.....but I really do like this picture too. Just some other ideas that you could try!!
