For those visiting Maui with the intent of driving up the 10,000 foot mountain, Haleakala, to see the stars, remember it's COLD up there! Often it's 40-50 degrees F and the wind blows hard enough that I have a hard time finding enough clothes to stay warm. But the Hawaiian skies are crisp and clear which is why the telescopes probing the heavens are nearby at the right of this photo.

Gregory, thanks for commenting. There certainly is a trade off when trying to lose weight carrying camera equipment. This hike was a steady climb over 3.6 miles, but well worth it. If done again, I would use my 70-200L lens, which I am more familiar with. This image is unsharpened. I have a near full size image posted on 500px and it looks better, with the colors more true. I just got back from a parks tour. This photo was taken from Apgar Mountain lookout within Glacier Park, and looking down at Lake McDonald. I left my big, heavy, and white Canon lenses at home and brought Tamron's lightweight 28-300mm, which I used for this photo. Thank you for your constructive criticism. Aloha!
