  1. I'm torn about the contrast. As is, I think it emphasizes the stair. If they hired you to take this image, you'd ditch the crowd control ropes and the sign, but you can't do that. There's lots of natural light coming in. I wonder how that'd change earlier or later. It's beautiful but reflects the "in use" status. Maybe someone going up or coming down the stair would pull even more attention to the stair, as is. As I said, "torn." I want to see the stair as a beautiful work of art, without the distraction of the sign and ropes, but if I can't have that, maybe I want to see it in use.
  2. Getty sold two of my images to Field & Stream, appearing on the first page of their online magazine. Getty collected $100 each and paid me $20 each. The cover of F&S used to command $5,000, then it went to $1,500 and now there is no cover. Don't quit your day job.

I know that radically tilted horizons are "in" these days, but I don't get it with this image. It's so blatant that I think that it detracts from the main subject. I'd pull down the cloud highlights to get a little more detail in there; otherwise, I love the colors and motion, which is hard to get just right in a still image.
  4. We've got a gorgeous sky with distant mountains, I think. This is a time where I'd ditch the "foreground interest" and move past that plant that dominates the scene. I'm thinking that positioning myself on the other side of that plan and cropping with a 2:1 aspect ratio, with the horizon below half way down, would pull us into that wonderful sky.
