thanks again, Mike. These babies were outside my livingroom window in the hedge. You could hear them squawking every time the mother came in with food, which was about every 5 minutes!

you definitely make it okay to shoot wildflowers in broad daylight during high noon with no deflector....

i know EXACTLY how you feel. especially trying to capture birds without a 300mm. i only have a 28-135mm and a macro lens, so needless to say, its hard to get any good bird shots. i'm sure it was easier to get this one, because its a baby, but you still have to lay out on the grass and be steady.

i think he did not crop off the tail on purpose but that there's no way to get such a close up with inclusion of the tail. you would have to zoom out to include the tail....

i particularly love this shot too, because it reminds me of the bird bath in my own yard which i have yet to get a good shot of!!!!!

i love all these colours together!!!! they sort of camoflauge and accent the bird at the same time. i have never seen a honeyeater before....are they native only to Australia?

Thanks Mike! its a filter. i could have done just the sepia itself, but the filter made the picture stand out a little better. black and white and sepia do make shadowy pictures more attractive, which is good for me. but this is something i just happened upon while tinkering.

Actually it was a bit spooky. lol. I had left home to go pick my son up from school and noticed the mushroom in my flower bed, but it was standing up at the time. I thought "oh nice, i will definitely photograph that when i get back home." well, when i got back home, i didn't immediately go out to see it, so a couple of hours went by and when i finally got out to it, it was all withered. i was disappointed, but took this shot nevertheless.

Thanks Mike! No, I didn't consider it. But I kinda didn't want to crop the arm out because I wanted it to be obvious that someone was holding him, since that was part of the reason I got so close to him! And plus it was taken at my son's trip to the zoo, so the woman holding it is part of the experience.
