1. Thanks for the tip. I will try it.
2. Hi, I was going through some of my older camera gear and came across my Metz 50mz-5 that I have not used in a couple years. Surprisingly, it charges and works fine, but the lcd on the controller is malfunctioning. I tried unsuccessfully to find a replacement controller on ebay and was hoping someone here might be able to help me locate one. I don't use it much, but it is a very nice flash and I would like to start using it more often. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
3. I haven't taken a photo of it yet, but I will be out with my new to me Nikon F3. I already owned an F3T but came across a good bit of Nikon gear at a local consignment store. I sold some stuff I had duplicates of, but kept the F3 non HP with 50mm f1.4Ais and MD-4. I have it loaded with Ektar 100 and my other F3 loaded with T-max 100.
4. Thanks for the help. I am ordering one tonight.
5. Hi everyone. I recently bought a used Digibee 800 from a local photographer. I mainly use a softbox on it, but wanted to use and umbrella for some photos. Unlike the original Alien Bees, the Digibee doesn't come with a reflector. I am seeking advice from those who might be using this stobe to see if it is recommended to buy a reflector to use with it? Thanks for any help.
6. I recently have had some luck finding classic manual cameras. These are 2 of my recent finds. I loaded them with some Arista EDU 400 in the Zeiss, and Ilford Delta 400 in the Minolta. The photos were taken with my digital camera, which I took along to meter the shots. The Zeiss meter is way off and the Minolta is accurate some of the time. I will be developing the film this weekend.
7. Thanks for the quick responses. I will start looking for another lens.
8. I was at a local thrift store Saturday and found a Rolleiflex 2.8c in excellent condition. I have had tlr's in the past and currently have a Yashicamt 124g, but have never seen a Rolleiflex in person. It cost more than I have ever spent on a used camera, but I had to get it. The only thing I could find that isn't perfect on it is the focusing screen. I am thinking of selling the 124G to pay for a cla on the Rollei. Could the existing focusing screen be made brighter by cleaning, or would it be more sensible to replace the screen? Any suggestions from current or former Rolleiflex users would be appreciated.
9. I recently bought a Kiev 4a no name rangefinfder with zeiss 50mm f1.5 lens. I looked over the camera and lens while in the antiques store and they seemed fine. I didn't have any film to use, so I put the camera on a shelf for a few weeks. Yesterday I was getting ready to load some film when I noticed this weird discoloration. It is not on the front or rear surface of the lens, but inside. My first thought was damage to a lens coating, but I now wonder if there is a possibility of oil between the elements. Has anyone here encountered a similar problem? I hope it is something that can be repaired. The camera seems to work well at all but the slower shutter speeds, and the glass looks good other than the color issue. Thanks for any help
10. Thanks for the info. I do think the head came with the tripod. The legs and head are made out of the same material and have the same finish. I guess I will just buy a small ballhead for it. It has a 1/4-20 thread.
11. I was hoping someone may be able to help me with identifying what model of Tiltall tripod I have. I bought it at a thrift store and it is missing the quick release plate. The tripod is compact and I think it is made out of aluminum. The quick release opening is about 1-1/4" square. The tripod has no other identification other than the name on one leg. I would like to find a quick release plate for it, but if I can't, I will buy a small ballhead so my wife can use it with her Nikon 1 J1. If anyone could help identify it, I would be appreciate it. Thanks.
12. I had concerns about using the lenses focused to infinity, but none caused problems. I have a 28mm f4 lens that seems to stick out the furthest, so that is the only one I have not used at infinity. I had several people comment on the camera and lenses when I was out. Many people have commented on my "old camera" when I am out with the Df. They all seem surprised when I let them know it is a digital slr. In addition to using the lenses to take photos, I think they look cool on the camera.
13. The photo of the train was taken with the 35mm f2.8. The one of the white wall was shot on the 50mm f2.8 wide open.
14. I have been interested in using my lenses from my Kodak Retina Reflex on my Nikon for a long time. I have had trouble finding recent comments or photos and was having second thoughts about getting an adapter after reading comments. I finally decided to buy the Fotodiox adapter. I went out recently and took a few photos with the adapter using the 35mm f2.8 Retina-Curtagon and the 50mm f2.8 Retina-Xenar. I had read about mounting issues with the adapters, and found that the lenses were difficult to get mounted. It took a little more force than I was expecting, but the lenses mount. I was using my Nikon Df and found it difficult to manual focus using the viewfinder. Using live view was a little easier. I am happy with the results so far. It is a slow process, but the photos turned out better than I hoped. I knew the lenses were good performers, having used them on my Retina reflex S, but was wondering how they would perform with the adapter on a modern digital slr. I just wanted to do this post in case there are others who may be interested in using an adapter.
15. I recently bought an OM-1 and have been using it this week. The focusing screen has some dark spots on it which won't come off. I like the split image for focusing and am looking for suggestions for what focusing screens I should look for. I currently have a 50mm f1.4 and a 100mm f2.8, but I am going to buy a 24mm f2.8. Thanks for the help.
16. Well, the votes are in. Those responding here and my son determined that red was the right choice. One problem, I am married and my wife likes the snake skin pattern. So here is the completed transformation. I noticed that the small piece that covers the self timer lever had fallen off, but luckily I found it. I also replaced the light seals with some I also got from Aki-Asahi. I will be looking for another OM-1 to use the red on.
17. I forgot to mention that it is a chrome OM-1 and not a black one.
18. I recently bought an OM-1 which is in need of having the leatherette replaced. I have been happy with Aki-Asahi coverings and decided to order one. I let my 10 year old son choose something different than the traditional black covering and he picked a red one. The package arrived today and, as with every kit I have ordered from Aki-Asahi, there is a practice covering. Usually they have been black coverings like the original, but the one I got has a really interesting pattern. I can't decide which to put on the camera, so I am asking for opinions from fellow photo.net members as to which they would choose. I know there are some who will probably not like anything other than a traditional black covering, but for those who like non-traditional, which would you choose? I will attach photos of both coverings. The black and white cover has some gold highlights but that is from an overhead light. It contains no color. Thanks. I will post a photo of the camera after I re-cover it.

20.
Hi Jerry. I have an SB-16 with both bases. With the B base, I can use it on my Nikon Df. It does not provide ttl flash with my camera, but I can shoot with my camera set to manual exposure and the flash set to one of the 2 auto modes. I just match the aperture on the camera to the one indicated on the flash, and it works well. The flash has it's own built in sensor to measure the flash. Your flash should power on even if it is not attached to a camera. Check the battery holder and the contacts inside the flash to see if they are corroded. Over the years I have got several flashes to work just by cleaning the contacts. Good luck.

21.
Hi Sergio. Here is a link that should answer your question. http://www.paulcbuff.com/x1600.php

22.
Thanks for the advice. I just developed a few rolls of black and white shot with a few of my manual cameras, and I am wanting to scan them. I think a new scanner makes much more sense, even if the old one could be made to work with my computer.

23.
I am thinking of buying an Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner that is for sale locally. I know it is an older model. I was wondering if it is compatible with newer computers? It comes with all the original software and accessories. I plan on using it to scan negatives and slides. Any help would be appreciated.

24.
Another example I share with my son is a "what not to do". I almost fell while visiting a waterfall in Iceland. I wanted a different vantage point and walked where I should not have. My first clue that it might not be safe was when I disturbed some seagulls who were nesting. They don't build their nests where people can easily get to. I got a great shot of the falls, but almost had a fall of my own while trying to get back to the trail. I am much older and a little wiser now, so I would not do anything as dangerous now.
