  1. Exposure is spot on, details are clear and visible in both the sky and shadow area.

The composition conveys a sense of depth as the stream lead towards the mountain in the background. I agree to on the shutter speed choice,  I think you found a very good balance here.

But overall, I like this picture because of the mood you managed to capture, I can feel the place as if I was there, and this is what counts the most for me.

It is a very strong composition, I like the leading lines in the foreground pointing at the house, and the contrast between the tree branches and the dramatic sky. It is moody, dramatic and conveys the sense of desolation, I feel like I want to be there.

    Very good

Hi, I echo the comment above about the feeling that the picture conveys, and I like the 50/50 split in the composition too.

Maybe you could try to crop both up and down, keeping the 50/50 split, to reduce a bit of the sky... there is nothing going on there and it would be nice to have some clouds?

You could try a 16:9 format for example and see if that works for you.

I did not realized that it is an HDR because the colors look natural, well done. I find the shot well composed and the reflection of the light on the water is a good catch.

Thanks Stephen, I will try your suggestion with a 2:1 crop... and thanks for looking into this.

Robert, thank you too for the valuable feedback.

I like it,it is an interesting composition.

You captured the drama in the sky very well and both composition, placing the horizon line very low, and BW conversion emphasize the overall mood.

I was not sure initially about the branches on the left corner below, but looking into them again they tell me about the winter, somehow they add to the composition.

Hi, I took this landscape on the English coast back in January.

The problem I have is that I find the sky very uninteresting, hence Icropped the picture using the format 16:9.

However, I am still unsure about the sky.... there is nothing going on.

Would you crop the sky even more, breaking the crop format? Thepicture would not work cropping left or right, it needs breath... butmaybe it is possible to crop down the top age to reduce the sky further.

What do you think of the composition and would you suggest a differentapproach?

I welcome your comments, thanks in advance

Can I please have a critique on this shot?

It is a single shot made on the south coast of England, UK. I cropped

it to take out a part of sky which is uninteresting. I just wonder if

the composition looks balance to you, having the two trees on the

    right hand side.

You can click on it to view it a bit larger.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Jerry, thanks for the feedback - I ll try different options back in post production. I do not like to overdo, but yeah, I ll see if I can recover the texture (good point).

On my last name... you just game a new project to spend some time on :) All my relatives are from Italy by the way.

  3. I took this shot on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The sky was overcast

and sun did not break throw at sunrise.I decided therefore to convert

it in bw as the original color of the sky looked a bit dull to me.

Does it work this bw for you?

    Any comment is welcome.

I have been going out in the evening for some street photography.

This is on the Millenium Bridge in London.

    Thanks

  4. Larry,

Thank you for pointing out the blue cast.

I am now playing with white balance, the correct settings would be "Cloudy", which gives me a temp of 6500 in between the original and the auto white balance (7500 kelvin).

It looks now more in balance to me.

    Regards
