photomarche 0 Posted May 19, 2013 I took this shot on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The sky was overcast and sun did not break throw at sunrise.I decided therefore to convert it in bw as the original color of the sky looked a bit dull to me. Does it work this bw for you? Any comment is welcome. Regards Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted May 20, 2013 Francesco, I like the overall composition a great deal. One of the best contrasts is the mountains with snow compared to the darker hills - I do wish they were not quite so central in your composition. Have you considered cropping off some the right hand side? The nearby dark rocks seem to have lost their texture - a slight increase of exposure or other post production techniques might help.Regards,Jerry P.S. I am interested in the similarity of spelling of your and my last names. I have traced my family name back to Northern Ireland and before that to France. The Matchette name belonged to French Huguenots who were kicked out of France for being Protestants. They migrated mostly to Ireland and the Netherlands, dropping the final "e" in Ireland. Do you have information about your last name? Link to comment
photomarche 0 Posted May 20, 2013 Jerry, thanks for the feedback - I ll try different options back in post production. I do not like to overdo, but yeah, I ll see if I can recover the texture (good point). On my last name... you just game a new project to spend some time on :) All my relatives are from Italy by the way.
