The "you die best alone" graffiti on the right side of Brad's first photo is an incredible juxtaposition of the couple getting married. Easily one of the best photos I've seen on this forum.

I'm 19 and shoot with a Leica M4P but the thing is that it's older than I am and my collapsible summicron is more than twice my age. A digital Leica might be nice one day but in all likelyhood, today's Leicas are going to last longer than I will ever need them. I use a Leica for its simplicity and beyond making a digital M I doubt there are any features they could possibly add that would interest me.

Just becuause he was photoshopped into an ad with a Canon 1D doesn't mean he actually uses it. The fact that he's transmitting from Athens and doing BW conversion from color images does lead me to believe that he's shooting digital. That said, shooting digital has nothing to do with how he sees the light and how he meters it.
-
Basically he seems to be metering for the hightlights. There are several ways to achieve this and spot metering is one. For daylight outdoors the easiest thing to do is just set the exposure manually at 1/250 at f/6.3 at 100iso or any reciprocal. At other times of day you can either spot meter in the light part of the image or better yet, stick an incident meter there and leave your exposure at that setting until the light changes.
Still more important to his technique is the ability to see the light and understand how it reacts to whatever film or digital camera you're using.

The lack of a Leica hasn't stopped anyone else from posting photos. Let's see that hookah.

And I don't think either of those cameras is going to stop a bullet. It's anyones guess with system you'll want to grow into.

Try searching the forums, this has been gone over before and the stock answers should all be there.

I've never understood the whole thing with needing a certain amount of concentrate. I've only did it once but I did APX 400 in Rodinal 1+100 in a 1 roll tank with 2.5ml concentrate in a little less than 250ml of water and got good enough results. Could someone please enlighten me as to why this is not advisable?

HC-110 or Rodinal with Tri-X or Neopan 400 and you're set. Steer clear of Ilfosol S, it looks dull and doesn't take long to go bad. Rodinal and HC keep almost forever. You just need a small syringe to measure small quantities of concentrate straight out of the bottle.

Boris, are you sure you didn't mistake Pinkhassov for Alex Majoli? I know that Majoli does most of his assignments on an Olympus 5050 but this is the first I've heard of anyone else using one professionally.

I was entertaining notions of competing since I am a fairly serious cyclist and I can be an OK runner when I try but eventually I realized that in my timeframe I probably couldn't learn how to swim very well. That said, there were many different people with all different shapes of body. This time I resigned myself to being a spectator but maybe next year I'll give it a try.
-
That sounds pretty ridiculous. Are you sure you didn't take that out of context? Tri-X in HC-110 has moderate but noticeable grain and fairly low contrast but in 35mm it will have nothing on 4x5 as far as grain and tonality are concerned.

Does everyone really have to take matters of taste as personal insults. Some people don't like this guy's work very much and a couple like his work. Oh well. Let's move on and have a serious discussion instead of trading personal insults.
