1. If its a sunny day, a polarizing filter will make the water darker and more interesting, eliminating glare.
 2.
Interesting, I have the very same items too! Got both on eBay from Chinese sellers. The level is in my DSLR camera bag, haven't used it yet but don't mind because it only cost a few bucks.

I always felt the need for extension tubes, but wasn't interested in paying the higher prices for good ones. Found plastic ones on eBay for under $20 a set, but they didn't interest me. Then I found the ones as shown in plastic but with metal mounts, for around $27.00. I've only played with them a few times, will probably not see much use like most of the inexpensive gadgets I have.

 3.
I've been using Facebook for some time now, and I'm enjoying it. I own and belong to several groups that pertain to my other hobbies and get a lot out of sharing my photos and seeing those of others. Also our family members extend from one coast to another, and FB makes it so easy to share news and info with all. They can respond or not, but the info is there for them to see if they want to.

I did similar activities on Yahoo Groups for several years. A while ago they decided they wanted to be more like FB and royally screwed up their efforts. I migrated my interests to FB and it worked out great. One Yahoo Group I started was for area railway enthusiasts, had around 150 members. When I announced I was going to discontinue the group and start a similar one on FB, most members came with me. One was particularly insistent that he would have nothing to do with FB, saying all of the "faults" of FB, etc. When I asked specifically what it was that he didn't like, I did not get an answer. When the new FB group was going for a while and was gaining new members, who should apply to join but this same guy?

He now participates semi regularly, has posed questions and gotten some great answers from the members and now appears to have accepted Facebook. The group now has around 750 members and is going strong, with regular postings of local rail related events and news.

So often I've had people say they didn't want to do FB, but couldn't supply reasons why. Many seem to think it's about teens posting what they had to eat, etc. Well maybe they do, but not in any groups I belong to. Give it a try, if you don't like it you can always close your account.

 4.
I clicked a link I had for Porter's Camera Store and it brought up a site for another business with the Porter name. I assume the firm is no more?

Don't really have a need to contact them, just curious. Used to deal with them way back in film days, remember they had a lot of neat photo gadgets. Also recall that they would include a free gift with mail orders. One gift I remember was a box of three plastic film cassettes with screw on tops and a clip that would hold them on a camera strap or belt.

Don't remember much what I actually did buy from them, but one item sticks out. It was a clear plastic cylinder used to hold rolls of film. Think it held 5 or so rolls, had easy off caps at both ends. Used the few I got several times, loaded unexposed film in them, then exposed rolls in the bottom. It was easy to see what you used and had left.

Nowadays I assume such digital devices are available on eBay, know I've picked up a few here and there.

Anyone else have any info and/or memories of Porters?

 5.
Last year I bought a Canon FTb black body from a seller in Japan. Wanted it for my collection of cameras I've owned in the past. Pretty good deal, $20 plus $20 postage. Got it in about two weeks, no customs charges. My small eBay purchases from China are now taking about six weeks to get here.

 6.
Seems to me the FD mount was introduced before 1970 as stated in Dave S.'s remarks. I bought my first Canon, a Pellix with a 50mm FD lens around 1965-66.
