  1. Robert, I think this is one of those things that for me, I understand how it happens, and I know the settings, but it is difficult to accomplish sometimes.

I think you have handled showing motion very well, without causing it to become completely unrecognizable.

Wonderful pictures Jenifer.  This series on the Ludington lighthouse is particularly important to me... I asked my now wife to marry me in the top of this lighthouse :)  Good memories.

I have a feeling this cat will be showing up in my dreams tonight... would not want to have this looking at me without a fence!  Great shot.

Thank you for the responses.  Very helpful, as for a few things,

The crop of the right hand was due to the odd angle of the wrist that she had at the moment (I didn't notice when the photo was taken, maybe it will work a little better cropped to not see the wrist at all?)  Her left hand, that's just where I happened to frame it at the moment.

The purple in her hair, really is just her hair, she has a purple streak in the back of it.

Thank you for the tips about the angle of her pose, and her chin, definitely something I will work on some more in future portraits.

My first real attempt at a portrait, I'm an experienced amateur photographer,

but never taken time for a "set up" portrait.

Please let me know of anything I can improve on.

    Thanks!

Nice image of a stressful situation.  As a cyclist I have found that Road bikes + dirt roads = stress for riders.  I like the long horizontal crop.

  2. I'm glad you had the sense to get this shot.... I came across a blackbear in TN and didn't even think about my camera!  Not sure what I would think with a Grizzley in sight!

Great shot, and I love your well-rounded portfolio, you do everything very well!  Keep up the good work.

  3. Hi Mark, interesting wood duck.  I'm interested as to where you shot it.  If I remember correctly this looks like a european version of a wood duck.

BTW, I love your waterfowl photos, keep up the great work!

I was actually upset with this photo, I had a Kodak P850 as my only camera, this was as wide as it would go, but to fit the cloud in I had to tilt the Horizon. Oh what I would have given for my current camera on this trip!

Thank you for your helpful comments Paul. I agree, landscape tends to be my weak spot at the moment, I just recently acquired a wide angle lens so I am getting some practice using it still. It was very insightful of you to say try and get something different than someone could get if they were to just walk up to the pond and take a picture, as that is what this was, we were on a walk and thought it was an interesting view.

Thank you Wouter! This was an odd overcast day with sun peeking through the clouds, I think I may try this shot again on a less cloudy day. The low perspective is a great idea.
