Very sad news to all Leica/Rangefinder photographers. He was a man to spend quality time with anyone no matter what skill level. Great man who was very willing to share any information about using a rare lens to the mixing of film developer. He was the one who encouraged me to make/use Pyrocat HD & HDC. His love for b&w film was one that spread to his many friends across the world. RIP my friend you will be missed.

The sutter is probably past the "squeak" stage and has seized up. Check out the videos on lubricating it from the bottom. Use clock oil works the best. I have done it to 4 of my Canon A body cameras without the slightest problem. One drop is all you need

Also their customer service in Canada is exceptional good after they realized a flaw in their web page for ordering. Discounted price as well as a few promotional items. Fourth time ordering and never a problem.

The first Canon I used was the AV-1 which took some 'lying to" for it to shoot pictures I liked. When it got stolen I wasn't terribly upset because I had a few FD lenes so I purchased an A1 which did fine for me. I sent that one in for a CLA and purchased a AE-1p to take its place while my A1 was "in the hospital" (my sons exact words) Then I happened to get an F1n (mechanical shutter) Shooting with that with the 1-2000 speed makes it a joy to use ( works quite well with 1.4 V hearing aid batteries). It is hard to decide with my A1 with a power winder or my F1n. I have 6-8 FD lenses so it is hard to decide what I will shoot on any given day. ... or maybe my Mamiya needs a good workout. ............. UNDECIDED in Vancouver

I just printed a roll of Tri-X pan Exp. 1987. Dev. in Infosol 3@ 1-14 . A bit foggy but for the price I paid it is printable. I got a 100 ' of it so I am content

I have the Vivitar Kiron Lens series1 35-85 f/2.8 lens and it is a favorite in my collection.

When masking tape warms up it doen't stick as well when you loaded them cold. I use the clear packing tape that works well. I have a Canon A1 with the 2 fps winder and I think I only screwed up one roll. My rolls are usually 20-25 fms

I recently purchased a SAKAR 500 MM Lens. It is a m39 thread and I use an FD adaptor with the Vivitar t adaptor from m39 to m42 . with the adaptors it leaves the mirror with plenty of room to work. It shoots fantastic picture so I guess yours might be too close so you might need a shim to get the lens furthur out. I have a A1 and a AE 1p which works on both.

I use the same cameras and it sounds as though you have it under control. One thing different I use my A1 all the time. and the AE 1p stays on my FL bellows for macro shooting. Maybe because my A1 works exceptionally well after I got a CLA done on it last year. The A1 loves the auto settings so I just go about my shooting business and enjoy it. There is a few shots that I have to lie to it but it doesn't affect the overall performance. Dennis

Probably + - $ 2000 film. Lenses, Camera CLA's x 2 , FL Bellows, 3 Macro lenses, 1 MF body and 1 Mamiya lens. Beseler 23CII (very cheaply though) AND PAPER by the 250 packs x 5. Chemicals,I don't want to figure that out, I might not sleep well. AND AND AND

Well that helped reality rear its ugly head !

I will pick up a F-1n or a FTb or maybe both. I pretty well have all my bases covered for FD lenes. I have started a collection of M42 lenses that I can use on my A body cameras as well as my Pentax. Picked up a fantastic 500 mm f8 lens M42 that I have a T adaptor that fits all my cameras (OH! except for my Mamiya 645). That needs a good lenses also And I need a better flash AND I got G.A.S. that won't leave just yet.
Now were was I , Oh ya things I need this year ? The only draw back I have for my collecting is LACK OF MONEY !! (reality rears it's ugly head)
Oh ya a film list also.

Shot at Ft. Langley B.C. WithCanon A1 with FD Vivitar Lens w/ Premium 400 @ 1600

That's great. I have been running their new Premium 400 and the 100.( T- Max ? ) The film is great for pushing (400 to 1600) with incredable great resullts. Even with the exchange rate (USA pays $30 CDN pays $37) as it is I have my amounts with the shipping charges that I have to buy 4 bulk rolls to gain my savings.

Yes I always do film and wet prints. Then I scan and then edit on that. I am still quite new @ digital photo shops ( I did think Photoshops were where I bought film and paper) But just today I sepia toned a print without the obnoxious chemical and time that it takes. Turned out quite well. I see when you scan a print then enlarge it the grain is still there. But I see when you enlarge a digi print the square picsels are quite evedent
My new years gift to myself will be a film scanner

Ya I have given up the bidding process. If they do not offer a BIN listing for a reasonable price the I won't do business with them.
. Its not worth the time I spend on waiting and watching and bidding to make the pennies I save to be worth the effort

I'm a film guy for many yrs. I do have a digi but I love the developing and printing variation to make an outstanding pictures. It is an adventure selecting the proper film and what it should be shot @ next what to develop it with. Then comes the exciting part, Printing your negs, The different things I can do with my Beseler and then after toning the print. I feel cheated out of my hard selecting and use to turn it into a print that comes out of a printer.
