very cool.

Yes they're from 2006. I'll probably continue to put 2005 on almost everything for another month. Color film...Next time.

I uploaded a folder in my profile of pics taken on Sunday. I had
great fun with my 5y/o. I burned three rolls of neopan 400 walking
around over a six-hour period. I used an M6 with 35/2 Asph and the
new M3 with a 90/2.8 (thin?)
Shoulda, woulda, couldas:
--Get closer with the 35.
--have color film in one camera. Duh! Tattoos.
--do a better job with avoiding people obstructing my field of view
for a shot. It was very crowded.

I use a digisix. I like everything except the lack of an off switch. The battery dies rather quickly, so now I usually take the battery out when not in use. No big deal as long as I can keep from losing the battery, and remember to reset the ISO eac time I put the batt. back in.

Ok. It's working now. 1st I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver application and I also make sure front left corner is nor sticking up at all. Loaded and scanned jst fine now. Thanks guys. Sure beats the heck outta shipping the scanner in for repairs.
-
I think Trent may have the answer. The top flap does seem to stick up a bit on the left corner. Is there a remedy? tape?
-
I recently purchased this scanner and have been using it with fairly
good results for the last 2 weeks. But now, I can't get the film
holder to load properly. It will start to load in for an index scan
and then get stuck halfway and just start clicking and clicking. I
thought something was obstructing the path but the slide holder loads
no problem. I checked the film holder for any marks that would
indicate a sticking point and nothing.
The whole film transport seems poorly designed, but for the price I
like this scanner. Should I just exchange it? Get a new film
holder? has anyone had this problem?
I guess I'll call Konica on monday and see what they say, but I
thought if anyone here knows a quickfix, I'll try that first.

Hey Barry. I got permission to go so long as I bring one of the kiddies along, but I'll be there on Sunday. I don't think anyone will be averse to you taking pictures. I went once before, before I had a camera, and there were many people with cameras. Lots of newspaper/magazine shooters as well. I think most people who go to show off their tattoos will even welcome photos since the whole atmosphere of the event is of an exhibitionist nature.
My plan for Sunday is too ask permission to shoot if some guy looks like he just got out of Chino State Peniteniary. If all else fails, I'll just do the hipshooting thing.

Halfway between Kent and Bill in historic downtown Garden Grove.

My 2 cents for getting 2 lenses with 2K---a 35/2 Asph can be had for $1000-1300 minty. And then either a mint 50/2 for $600-700, or hmmm. Well, I was gonna suggest a 90/2.8 but not sure how hard focusing would be on the .58 as I haven't tried a .58 out before.

one more...on ice.

Here's the link for the BodyArt expo at the Pomona Fairgrounds.
http://www.bodyartexpo.com/MAIN.PHP
I really hope to attend this year but it all depends if wifey lets me
get away for a spell.
Well I might not lose the leash for a day, but maybe some others here
can go, and I'm sure there'll be some good photos taken.

patrick--tee hee. Not that I had to ask, more just gloat maybe.

Ned---I'm not too concerned about interchangeability. I keep the M6 setup I have for weekend excurions, vacations, etc. The kit consists of 35asph/ 50 cron/ and a 90 2.8 tele-elmarit. The M2 and now the new M3 are for take anywhere and everywhere/ backup. If the M6 goes down I can guestimate the 35 FOV if I put it on the M3. Most likely though, if the M6 went kaput, I'd just use the 50 on the M3.
John---I won't sell the M6 as it is the most modern body I have. I am well aware the M3/M2 may have been better made, but the amount of years and miles on the M6 are far less. I also like having a meter and am admitedly vain in that I like keeping my newish black lenses on a newish black body. I would never think of mounting my current 'cron on the M2 or the new-old lux on the M6. It'd be like seeing some 20something stud smooching on a 60something lady. EEwwww! It can be done and is perfectly legal of course, but it still seems unnatural.
Dan---thanks for the advice on clip-on shades. Next ebay mission.
Thomas---DAG is my choice for sure if the local talent doesn't pan out.

I tried just show the wide open shots to show how each performs in low light. Like Eric said, stopped down, all lenses perform well.

Fish more. Compete (not just play) in a tennis league for 30somethings. Take a vacation someplace tropical sans kids. Master my B&W developing and scanning workflow. Oh, and find more time to walk around aimlessly, Leica in tow.
-
Oh, and I'll post bragging pictures tomorrow if anyone's interested.

Last week I posted
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00Eeoo&tag=
about an M3 with a 50 lux at a seemingly ridiculous low price. It
was placed on consignment by a gentleman at a small repair shop in
SoCal. Original asking price for the combo with filters was 895, and
I offered 700 just to see if I'd get lucky. I was in no way in a
hurry to get another M as I already have an M2 and M6. Well the
seller came down to 850 so I went to pick it up today. I fired off a
roll of film and took to Walgreens. No major issues other than the
stiff focus and stiff film advance as mentioned in the previous
thread.
I'm gonna shoot with it for a couple weeks before I send off for a
CLA.
I think I truly may have the jackpot. serial# for the camera is
1155xxx which cameraquest puts circa 1966 and the lens is 1945xxx
which KBCamera lists as being manufactured in 1962.
I have some questions about the lens. It appears to have 43mm
threads. What is the correct hood and lens cap? also I recall an
aftermarket hood that screws in the filter ring. anybody have the
name of the ebay seller for those? What version lens is it? I'm
only asking in case it is some ultra-rare version that I can sell for
a tidy profit.
As far as CLA goes I have heard of two guys in LA area. Stephen Choi
and someone in Pasadena. Oculus I'll e-mail you for name.
Next order of business is to sell the M2/50DR/ and maybe the current
50 'cron. I hope to keep the M6/35asph combo along with the new
M3/50lux.
Any info on local cla or the lens items would be appreciated.

Think of it as film economy. I always get 38 exp. to a roll but am aspiring for 39.
-
I agree with Rene. I have a .72, and wear glasses. While I have trouble seeing all four 35mm framelines simultaneously, I don't mind too much as I'd rather have the larger image for focusing. Framelines are more of a guide for me anyway.

Last Monday a fire
http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/local/article_949261.php
gutted the two apartments next to mine and nearly completely
destroyed everything I own. Firefighters used my apt. to run hoses
thru the commom attic and the fire itself had burned itself above and
partially into my place. The resulting water and smoke damage
destroyed most of our personal belongings. No renter's ins. on my
part means 90% of the kids xmas presents and other toys, tv, couch,
lamps, tables and pretty much everything that was either in the
living room, kitchen and kids' room is destroyed and I am elated.
Another tidbit of horror was to learn that the drywall was asbestos
filled. I had been breathing that stuff for 3 days sifting thru the
rubble caused from the firemen knocking out the ceiling/ insulation
etc.
My Leicas survived though. Along with my other cameras, computer,
fishing reels and other oddities that were in my bedroom.
Another plus is my wife and kids made it out. I was on my way to
work about 5:45 when I got a frantic call from my wife. All
gibberish but I did make out the word "fire" and quickly turned
around.
As I neared my complex I pulled up to a police blockade to inquire
what I, as a resident, should do. The cop started screaming at
me "can't you see this road is closed! Get out of the car!" he
threw in a few expletives for good measure. He was about to slam me
on my hood and cuff me when, trembling, I cried that my wife and kids
were inside the affected apartments. At that point he said he was
sorry and let me park off to the side of the blockade and walk over
to the front of the complex.
This past week I have been frantically working trying to salvage
belongings and find a new apartment. The cause was in an old heater/
bad wiring in the apt. next to mine. I probably have no recourse
without rental ins. unless I can prove the owner was negligent. I
heard from my wife that two residents had complained about the old
heaters 3 weeks ago and nothing was done. I can't worry about that
now. I just want to to get our live back to some semblence of
normalcy.
I just found a new pad yesterday and I was told that there's no DSL
lines available. Does Direct TV have Hispeed internet? Or must I go
get cable.
I have been trying to keep a positive attitude. I am gonna be
financially strapped becasue of all the extra costs from the move and
buying essentials. My kids were traumatized getting woken up at
ohdarkthirty then getting pushed out of a burning building. I burned
a vacation week to take care of the business of restoring normalcy.
But hey. I still got my cameras, and the kids have too much toys as
it is anyways. And they were unhurt.
Great big thanks to the Red Cross for stepping in so quick with care
packages. They even gave me a debit card for groceries and bought my
wife a pair of glasses to replace the ones destroyed, and to replace
shoes for the kids.
It looks like I've missed a good week to lurk around here on the
forum. First priority now is to get some Hi-speed access so I can
look at some pics too.
