1.
Ok, so the price is not that unusual. Adorama has it for $299 right now as well.

  2.
On a related note, if you pick the International version, price immediately drops to $256. What are the cons of buying this version? Will the warranty be void here (in the US)? Thank you.

  3.
Amazon has the non-VC lens and the default seller lists the price at $449.99 (via RitzCamera). Pretty much all other sellers have it listed at $499.00. Now here's the surprise. Amazon is selling it at $299. There's a caveat that it will only ship within 1-4 weeks. So if you want it by Friday, this won't work. But if you are prepared to wait, it is an amazing price. And no, this is not the International version, this is the US version of the lens. See attached screenshot.

    Wow, very good!
  5.
Wow, Amazon is direct selling it for $299 + tax. That is incredibly low for that non-VC Tamron.

[Edit] - Looks like it won't ship for another 2-3 weeks. Which is kinda shady. Maybe they are selling a gray market item.

  6.

If you can do without VC, the previous non- stabilised model of Tamron SP 17-50 f/2.8 is available for less than that Sigma price. Optical quality is superb and almost equal to the overly big and heavy Nikon 17-55mm zoom (also non- stabilised).

Thank you, Rodeo. Amazon has that non-VC Tamron for $449. Where did you see it for less than $399 (Sigma's price)?

  7.

The new Tamron has a whole different focus system.

Thanks Andy. Do you know what year they updated the model? The model I tried was the VC version they introduced back in 2009.

  8.
I had a bad experience with the Tamron years ago when I tried it on my D80. Had focusing issues, tried two copies - and returned both. Do you use yours with a 7100 too?

  9.
The equivalent Tamron lens (Tamron Auto Focus 17-50mm F/2.8 SP XR Di II VC) is $649. I have a feeling the reason Sigma has under priced the Tamron by $250 could be due to this bug.

  10.
Amazon has this lens for $399 - excellent price I think. Do any 7100 owners have this lens? If you do, what is the impact of the problem described in this thread :

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/54065245

One of the responses state that Sigma has not fixed the problem. Thank you.

  11.
Thank you, Bob Bernardo. Useful info.

  12.
How would you handle on-stage situations where a powerful spotlight can change the light requirements randomly depending on where the subjects are standing?

Wow, that is beautiful! So serene.
  14.
Ellis, some people just want the experience. Maybe OP has another job - or her spouse/parents cover the expenses. It's not always about the money.

    Otherwise it's a nice shot
  16.
LOL - if he expects people to pay for it to give him free feedback, I also have a really nice bridge he can buy from me.

  17.
I'd return it and get another. Just the psychological thought that it's not new would get to me :-)

  18. Really nice and nostalgic. I did not realize that that's not a real person at first :-)
  19.
Shun - how do you switch a camera off? It's really a stand-by, is it not? Unless you remove the battery.

  20.
Wow, Jeff's right. That comment on the typo was really uncalled for - seriously! :-)

  21.
Actually, if they allowed the cameras to support wifi, people could tether it to their smartphones and now their DSLRs are suddenly on the internet.

  22.

The SnapBridge app is available for compatible iPhone®, iPad® and/or iPod touch®, and for smart devices running the Android™ operating system.

Okay, Windows phones and tablets are out :-(

  23.
Thanks Dieter, so not much of a saving really - unless you actually want every single item in that bundle.

  24.
What's the saving from buying those individually, do you know? Thanks.
Not that I am interested, way beyond my budget, but just wondering. :-)
