  1. Each year, there are only less than than two weeks that we could take

an image of this tree like this, given a right weather and sky

condition. Thanks for viewing this image.

An appealing image. Just feel the right corner sky is a bit dark, maybe you can lighten up a little to see the effect. Overall, I quite like this image.

  2. From the beginning of 2012, I have been to Blue Mountains (NSW,

Australia) probably more than 10 times, and have been trying to get a

good sunrise light in this Three Sisters place. This photo was taken

on 12 May 2012 (yesterday) early morning. Very fortunately, I had

witnessed the most spectacular sunrise in Blue Mountains.

This image was actually made by stitching and blending from 4

separated shots taken successively - two shots to capture the lower

part (mountains) and two shots to capture the upper part (sky),

because my 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens was not high and wide enough to

include both sufficient mountains and the sky that I wanted to present

    in my photo.

    Thanks for viewing this image.

  3. Taken in Curio Bay, South Island in New Zealand. The spectacular

sunrise was one of the most impressive moments during the 18 days

expedition. Thanks for viewing this image.

    Fingal Head

          3

These giant Basalt rock formations are the major feature in Fingal

Head in NSW Australia. But taking photos of them are quite difficult

as these rocks are really dark. This image was taken in a late

afternoon soon after a severe storm while the soft light made the dark

rocks shinning. Thanks for viewing this image.

    Dead Calm

In the middle of the day I came to Al Khuwayr - a small town 100KM

north of the capital city Doha in Qatar. During this low tide period,

a number of boats were stacked on this mud beach. This image was a

result from stitching and blending a number of successive shots in

order to gain the maximal DOF as well as large enough to include all

    elements I was interested.

    Thanks for viewing this image.

This is a very interesting B&W image, the composition attracts viewers' attention, and the dramatic sky provides a good balance with the foreground road. Three trees on the left side are a nice backdrop for the overall image. But the most left one is too dark that messes with the foreground and dark clouds.

    Cheers,

    Yan

Stephen: Thanks for your comments. I agree with your opinion that the left rock and upper sky are bit over dark. In fact, after I posted image here, I have adjusted this a bit. A new version can be viewed from here:

Paul: thanks for your comments. I guess you have a similar comment about the contrast ato Stephen's, see my response to Stephen.

In terms of exposure, in fact, this image was a result from stitching and blending several successive shots with different exposure times. The main reason for doing this is: the frame is not big enough to capture both water and sky, so I made three shots to cover the hight of this image. The exposure of sky is about 2 minutes, while the foreground wave traces were captured around 1.5 seconds.

    Regards, Yan.

Taken this morning. After a whole week heavy rains, this morning

showed a dramatic sky in the coast during the sunrise time. After a

while, it was raining again. Thanks for viewing this image.
