    Job Hunting

          14

    Thanks, Alf!

The title you're suggesting is much funnier and I like it a lot. I always try to find meaningful titles that complement the pictures themselves, but sometimes fellow photographers have better ideas than mine.

I based my title on the posters in the window: "summer jobs in the USA", "work in USA", "work in America". After I decided on the title, I chose to apply a harsher tonal contrast which I considered more appropriate to this image and this title.

Now I'm considering changing the title. And I think the new title would require a softer contrast, in order to achieve a more "relaxed" mood.

    You did it again :)

Very well thought, composed and captured. Superb light and colors. I love how the right side looks like black&white.

    Congratulations again!

  1. Usually I'm not very fond of this kind of "composite image". Maybe because I find them extremely difficult to create (good ones, I mean) and - you know - "the grapes are sour".

But yours are always worth exploring. They captivate me. Unlike others of the same kind, yours seem to be more coherent.

And I just like them :)

A very creative picture. Technically ok (exposure, white balance, etc.). I would have framed the picture tighter.

I like the subject. Not extremely original, but well found and captured.

I think a polarizer would have been useful here, by removing reflections in the windows.

I would also try straightening the verticals (using PTLens, for instance).

    Anyway, nice picture!

  2. Excellent light and tones.

I like the composition - but I would also try removing the top part, just to suggest that the dunes are endless.

What I especially like is the human presence (at least for the sense of scale).

Gunnar,Thank you for your time and comment!

I visited your portfolio and I was impressed by your photographs. They show you master architecture photography as well as architectural details - and this makes your comment even more valuable to me.

    Loneliness

I really like how everything in this picture contributes to the idea of loneliness: the silhouette, the line of empty benches and the pavement lines in the foreground leading the eye to the main subject, the misty background, etc. The warm soft light is also perfectly adequate.

Moreover, I feel it's not a painfull loneliness, but a serene one.

This picture is not spectacular at first sight, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. It's an invitation to meditation...

    Old and new.

Sometimes the new is just big and functional, depriving us frombeauty and harmony. However, it keeps invading and dominating wholeareas, making the old stand back and barely survive.

Have I managed to convey this feeling? Does it work for you?

    Father & Son

This picture definitely tells a story. The tones and textures are perfectly adequate. The composition seems perfect to me, as I consider the doors as part of the story (like options on the two men's way?).

Essentially, this is a minimalist picture. It just had to be monochromatic, in order to remove any distracting colors.

    Sooo good...

    PS Why the shadow frame?

    Excitement

Intense emotion will almost always make a great subject. Capturing such a moment requires a trained eye and a lot of skills. This picture shows you have it all.

Since it seems to be a snapshot, I don't think you had much time to compose - yet the composition is excellent. Congrats!

    mother and child

The eye contact makes this picture sing. I also love the misterious look (excellent light!).

For me, this could also be a story of generations: the mother is aware of the present while the child is innocent and looking forward (to the future).

    La siesta

This is my kind of picture: minimalistic (almost), high impact.

I think it's staged (I can tell by the guy's hands and feet), but I like the result.

    Thanks for making me smile!

  3. It works for me. The woman doen't have to be more than a silhouette (just for scale, but her beautiful body adds to the picture).

What bothers (a bit) me is the tilted horizon.

    Anyway, an excellent B&W.

Although there are many elements in this picture, I consider it minimalist - and a great one at that.

I love the composition - 9 tables in 2 groups (dark ones and lighter ones), 4 partial umbrellas that "frame" the picture, 2 diagonal umbrellas that lead my eyes to the single character in this picture. Also excellent post-processing.

I definitely envy this picture :)

    Congrats!
