1.
Thank you very much for the suggestions!

John: Sorry to start another thread. I tried to search for previous threads, but the computer I was using wouldn't allow me to go to the post, it simply took me back to the main menu. I did a search when I got home and went through the previous posts.

William: Yes it is ice hockey.

I know the equipment I have is not best for this type of photography, but I'm going to give it a shot and have some fun.

Thanks for your help!
2.
Hello everyone!
My cousin asked me to take some pictures for his work hockey team this weekend. I have no experience

at all with shooting sports. Most of my subjects are stationary. I'm not sure where I will be taking the

pictures from, most likely the bleachers.
I was hope for some advice on what settings to use, techniques, whether or not to use a flash, and anything

    else you may think of.
I will be shooting with a Nikon D40 with an 18-200mm VR lens. I will also have a 50mm f1.8 and probably

    an SB400 flash.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  3.
I've been watching prices on the SB-600 waiting for it to come down a little more, but saw today that it's up to $200 from $180 a month ago on Amazon. Needless to say I wish I had bought it then and I'm a little discouraged at the increase. Such is life I guess.

  4. While a small budget prevents me from upgrading equipment much, I

love this camera. Let's see what you guys have done with the D40 and

either the 18-55 or 55-200. Thanks!
00S7Rp-105257884.jpg.e3f33382a6ae55146ec9bef35d45ae08.jpg

  5. This story didn't happn to me, but rather the photographer shooting my brother's wedding. We were taking the bridal party photos before the wedding. The photographer stooped down to take some candid shots of the flower girl and ring bearer and as soon as he did, his pants split from back to front. It was rather funny, but I felt bad for the guy. It must have happened to him before because he went on without stopping. Simply tucked a towel in the back of his pants and continued to shoot. Luckily his wife was mere minutes away from the wedding and was able to drop some off to him before the cerimony. I will never forget that though. Guess it pays to pack an extra pair of pants though!
  6. I was in this same dilema a year ago and based on my budget and skill level I chose the D40. I have never regretted it. It is a wonderful camera to learn on. It is relatively cheap and produces wonderful images. I recently had some of my files printed to 20"x30" and they came out beautiful. I would have never imagined getting such good results. It is incredibly light and can carry it around for a day without noticing it. Whatever you decide, I think you'll be happy. But my vote is for the D40.
