    Me !

    Marion,

A self-portrait is a picture *you took of yourself*, using, say, a timer, or a remote control, or a corded shutter release.

You didn't take this picture, someone else did. (I'm guessing) Therefore, it is not a self-portrait.

It's a perfectly acceptable photo (in my opinion) for you to put up as your "picture of me" in your profile. But the portfolio section is for pictures *you have taken yourself.*

Marion, take it from me - if you're gonna post nude pictures *period*, you're going to catch a certain amount of shit in this site.

If you post nude pictures *of yourself*, you can expect to double that. It's simply the "personality" of the site. It's a shame, but there it is.

That being said, Jeff has a point - you didn't take this picture (I assume) so it doesn't properly belong in your portfolio. I don't think anyone's gonna sue you over it, but this is a place where people pay attention to detail. You should delete it and do some self-ports if it's important to you to have nude pictures of yourself here.

I have this shot as well, with the shadow unsnipped. But I'd need to PS out the clothespin that's holding the boot snugly around her leg, and crop out the electric cord.

  1. I think it's a great image, both technically and in the emotion it portrays - National Geographic, where are you?- but I confess that after looking at the whole folder, I'm hung up on details.

Why were the camels stuck? Is the mud like quicksand? And how the hell do you get a camel un-stuck?

Absolutely beautiful. Dramatic, yet calm. Suggestive. I love it. It's exactly the kind of thing I've been trying (not terribly successfully) to capture in my night shots.

I like the pose and the lighting, but it would have been better if she was sitting on the white gauze, so that we didn't see that one slice of the couch.

And I have to say, this has been PSed so much that it looks more like an illustration that a photo. If thats the effect you want, thats cool, but she's a lovely model and I would think the shot would look just fine without all the softening and tweaking.

What was done in PS? Nothing. I mean, this camera has a scratch on the lens that always has to be rubber-stamped out, and I may have fine-tuned the levels a tad. But nothing significant.

Most of it I love: the texture of her skin and the rock, the dramatic triangle of sky...

The angle of her body bothers me a little, though. Her hips and legs seem out of proportion with her torso...I'm guessing you used a wide-ish angle here.

Its not extreme, but sometimes subtle distortions bother me more because they are sort of now-you-see-it, now-you-don't.

Nude would certainly make it better. Unfortunately this is taken on the beach of a popular state park. I don't relish the idea of my model and I being arrested.

Its a nice image. I'd of chosen a pose that de-emphasized her breast implants, though. I think it takes away from the relaxed sensuality of the picture.
