Another dragonfly in flight -- or maybe the same one. At least it's
the same species as the other one I posted.
Again, I was just trying to prove to myself that I could get a decent
image of one of these insects -- difficult because their flight is so
erratic. I don't intend this as an artistic achievement, but would
appreciate feedback on what you think.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Richard --
I think that the idea behind this photo is very good: there is a story well worth telling. (Perhaps given our present economic difficulties, there is a metaphor here that is worthy of careful reflection.)
I think a problem with the photo is that the spider is so small in the frame. Yet, of course, it is important to show the anchor point for the spider. I don't know how this problem can be resolved. But I wanted to tell you that I liked your image and to thank you for sharing it.
(BTW, I didn't rate the image, but can understand why the ratings are lower than they might be.)
regards,

I like this image very much, Gregory. It is sharp and located nicely in the frame. But what really attracts me is the lighting and the way it reveals the shape and texture of the petals --their 3-dimensionality.
Well done. kent

Common Redpoll
in Wildlife
Posted
Very nice image, Richard. Good position of the redpoll. Perhaps the light out of focus twig in the lower right could be burned down a bit? I really like the background which emphasizes the sharpness of your image.
There is one urgent question, however: Is the bird a common or a hoary redpoll? From what I can see of the undertail coverts, I'd say Hoary. (I raise this question for fun, but also because you have both names attached to the image.)
Regards,
kent wilson
