The central metal spire has been torn down. It looks like the brick one on the left will remain but the rest of the Foster's plant is being torn down to make way for apartments.
I shot some video of it being torn down with a giant pecking device.
Glad you like the shot. Thanks for the input.

I'm not 100% certain if they'll tear down the stacks, as Sydney seems to keep stacks even when the rest of structures are removed. These particular stacks are part of a Fosters Brewery, which is going to be replaced with housing. Despite what they say in US adds Fosters is not Australian for Beer. In fact I don't know anyone here who drinks the stuff. Still, it's sad to see the old brick buildings go. It's possible the stacks will be kept as I have seen a number of stacks standing alone around the city. One is part of the fence in someone's front yard. I should post a photo of that, it's very odd. Also a silo near me was renovated and made into housing. We'll see. but I am always truck by the modern stacks vs. the old church which I ride by on the bus every week. Starting to get leaves on a couple of the trees now but not the ones on the right of the frame.

These spires are going to be demolished soon. Before they are, I want
the definitive image of them. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. This was taken at f8. but I also have 3 at f16 and 3 at
f29 from the same location.

This was taken at f8. but I also have 3 at f16 and 3 at f29 from the
same location. I know people liked one I shot with leaves on the trees
but it had a lot of noise and I can't really use it in my portfolio.
This one is noise free. If the leaves return before the wrecking crew
comes, I'll take more, if you think the green trees are important.
Please let me know what you think.
Here is the leaved image for comparison.

Here is another interpretation of the same composition. Note brighter forground.
What do you think? Comments, please.

Recently I took a series of shots of these contrasting spires. I have
heard rumours that the left two will be torn down and before that
happens I want the best possible image of them together.
I have taken shots at varying exposures, apertures,... Bracketed shots
at F8, F16, F22, and F29.
Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I put up a larger version so you could take in more of the image. The original image size is way to big to post.
The original is 9439pixels by 2232pixels.
This version is 2560pixels by 605 pixels.

The old Windmill near Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Comments? Suggestions?

This was done without the aid of a panorama head. Comments, questions...?

Santa Monica puts up this sign and crosses. The coffins in the
background represent the 8 soldiers that died the week this photo was
taken.

I tried to submit the full size version of this to a stock site but
they claimed there were artifacts. I blew it up to 200% ran a reduce
noise function and then couldn't see any noise but they still didn't
like it. There was a tiny bit of noise in the purple area in the upper
left but I was able to get rid of that. Am traveling so don't have the
original handy. It was shot at ISO 200 and the focus is sharp, so I
am not sure if they are wearing dirty glasses or what. What do you think?

The ferry on the left honked loudly so I turned to look at it. While
taking another picture of the Opera house alone was not that exciting
I liked the balance of the ferry belching its black smoke and the
white Opera house sails and the lines of the steps which lead the eye
to the Opera House.
Any comments would be most appreciated.

Every time I pass these spires they grab my attention. I love the
contrast between the old church and the brewery smokestacks. I am told
the brewery is going to be torn down and replaced with apartments. I
really want to get the definitive picture of these three spires. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I should probably have used
a higher f-stop. What do you think re the focus, etc?
I look forward to your feedback.

Bay Bridge at dusk with whispy clouds and moon

Very nice, vibrant image. The colour really caught my eye. Good framing as well having the bridge enter and exit not at the corners and having the closest support near the right 3rd of the image.

This is the first time I've used the continues focus on my D50. I like
the effect. Your thoughts?

My Nephew eating cake at his first birthday, or rather getting it

Hope you Enjoyed Sydney. I've been here 5 years.
Nice use of selective colour, and inclusion of the iconic harbour bridge.

I really like this photo, but I think it would be better if the distracting objects and wires were cropped out of the bottom left. I would rate a tighter crop as excellent
