  2. Nantucket harbor cat. Nikon F, 105mm f/2.5 (Sonnar type), Nikon 9000 scanner.
  3. Son and granddaughters … D700, 85mm f/1.4 AF-D, SB-900, IDO 450, 1/200 @ f/4
  4. In the spirit of nostalgic mischief, here's my D700 with the error code it started displaying back in 2012.
  5. <p>Nikon F, 7.5mm f/5.6 fisheye with dark yellow filter, 1/500 @ f/11, Kodak Tri-X, D-76 1:1.</p><div></div>
  6. <p>David, it looks like you were having a fine time in 1980.</p>
  7. <p>Time Travel Tuesday (or Wednesday) works for me. This is from 1982.</p><div></div>
  8. <p>I am currently an Older Person. When I was a Younger Person, I laid this brick patio. I built this porch. With the help of good friends, I knocked a great hole in our home's back wall and installed this glass door.</p> <p>Glory days.</p><div></div>
  9. <p>>> "I would scan the entire roll if there was an easy way to 'set and forget' "</p> <p>In addition to the high-quality scanners you're considering, you might think about getting a less expensive flatbed unit for proofing. I have an Epson V700 that will scan 36 frames of 35mm in "Thumbnail" mode without any further attention once you get it going. I make low resolution scans of each new roll, then import them into Lightroom for a digital record of what's on that roll. I also use those scans to print a proof sheet to file away in a binder with the negatives.</p> <p>If there's a frame on the roll that looks good, I scan it with my Nikon 9000.</p>
  10. <p>Is this what they call "swirly bokeh"?</p><div></div>
  11. <p>"If you're a cast iron pan person (you know who you are!) …"</p> <p>I am though hadn't heard of Smithey's before. That's a beautiful pan.</p> <p>Happy New Year, Nikon fans!</p>
  12. <p>My poor cilantro plant. Alas, <em>no mas tacos</em> until spring.</p><div></div>
  13. <p>An old negative, recently scanned.</p> <p>Nikon F, 50mm f/1.4 with red filter, Kodak High Speed Infrared film, Coolscan 9000.</p><div></div>
  14. <p>Kids, always make sure to ride in an approved child seat …</p><div></div>
  15. <p>Gus and I corresponded about a repair he's doing for me on November 1. Since then he hasn't responded to emails or returned my phone call. Does anyone know if he's OK or what might be going on?</p> <p>Thanks,<br />Kent</p>
  16. <p>And after school, unwinding with a feline friend at the Mall of America.</p><div></div>
  17. <p>Two from our granddaughter's first day of kindergarten.</p> <p>First, starting the day off right with a nutritious breakfast.</p><div></div>
  18. <p>Patrick, thanks.</p> <p>Your state fair image of Fenris is magnificent.</p>
  19. <p>This is Curtis, a beagle who was found a few years back wandering a country road, lost and starving. He now has a happy home and a full-time job. He works at his owner's business, where he is in charge of greeting customers and delivery people and general morale building.</p><div></div>
  20. <p>Here's a jokey picture of my friend's 1964 Dart, also made with the Yashica Mat. We were trying to emulate the "Rat Fink" cartoons popular at the time, hence the gigantic floor-shift lever.</p><div></div>
  21. <p>Regarding the Dart, after your interesting comments, a little online research, and personal memory jogging, I realize that the "270" emblem on the hood represented the trim package (better than the base 170 but not as cool as the premium GT) and, of course, not the engine displacement. I'm pretty sure our car had the 225 cubic inch slant six, which Wikipedia says was a $50 option over the base 170 cid engine.</p><div></div>
  22. <p>Another view. Our neighbor had some interesting cars, too.</p><div></div>
