Hi Mike
This shot was taken with a IR modified XSI. The modification was done by Lifepixel. A filter equivalent to 720nm was installed. The photo was converted to B&W in photoshop.

The method I used was as follows:
set the camera on a tripod and prefocused on the skyline.
I set the camera to 4 sec exposures and using the remote locked the shutter down so the camera took successive 4 second exposures until the card was full.
I ended up with a lot of shots with no lightning and about twenty with strikes in the frame.
So I guess this was by chance - I was inside editing photos on my computer.
