It is important to note that the County does not support any kind of animal cruelty during the race. All the animal parts shown here were prepared by a local hunter-taxidermist that also provided the meat to sell during the day.
-
People registering for the race! All founds collected are directed to support different cultural committees.
-
Rattlesnakes used are medium sized and gently moved by touching the animal with the tubing...
-
People of all ages can participate. They are given a pair of "chaps" or plastic anti snake protectors. Sorry because the snake is too small to be seen.
-
People preparing to open the cages. Each competitor is accompanied by a snake handler. THe idea is to make the snake to "run" then pushed with the tubing. THe helper just try to put the snake back to track with the tong.

Very interesting portrait! the snake looks with a looks of texture and character! I liked the contrast of the black and yellow. Is this a Python reticulatus?
I would like, if you do may, to visit my portfolio.. I have some snakes there....
Congratulations

Your shot is clear.. eye in focus.... I just suggest to crop the snake. Snakes are wonderful subjects but because are "long" it is easy to get empty spaces in the photograph.
With all respect to your work I cropped the image in order to "gain space" making the snake more important to the viewer.
Snakes are one of my preferred subjects... If you do not mind, please take a look to my portfolio, please let me know your input too.
Congratulations and thank you for sharing your image

You might be right... just relaxing after having had a good dinner!
Snakes are great subjects to photograph but extreme caution has to be taken even for those who know how to manipulate them...

Interesting approach! I would used a little bit more of depth of field to make sure both eyes were in focus...
I have also photographed some snakes.. If would like to see them, please visit my portfolio...
Congratulations
