Beautiful shots! I would say you got your money's worth out of the D60.

I have a V1 and except for some foibles concerning the back of the camera (cheap dials), it would work perfectly fine. There is nothing wrong with the IQ and the viewfinder is pretty nice. Well, except for an annoying lag as it switches from the back panel display to viewfinder. Little engineering glitches and bean counter crap hurts what I think is a nice piece of engineering. Especially the autofocus, which is really fast. The high ISO is also good for a small sensor.

I find the D7000 with the 17-55mm zoom to be nose heavy. It is very nice with a 24mm on it. I suppose I aught to get a light-weight slow zoom for it sometime.

The V1 is a pretty nice bit of engineering, completely let down by bean counters. The body is well built and the rear controls are cheap. It is very snappy but the little lag switching from the LCD to the viewfinder is annoying. If Nikon would nut up and build a V1-prime, it would be a viable small system. They just about got it. Just about.

I bought the 28-105mm at a camera show for a ridiculous price (something like $125 in nice condition). It is what I put on my D700 for walking around. Regardless of its foibles, it is more lens for the money than practically anything out there.

I guess I'm just going to stick with my D700/D7000 combo plan. The resolution of the D800 is pretty awesome, and way over my level of expertise. It would be one heck of an upgrade though.

A friend sent me this and I thought I would share.

Sounds like a character in Seinfeld. No D800 for you!

You think that's bad? You aught to check out the crap dials on the Nikon V1. Considering what I paid for my refurb D7000, the controls are build like a tank in comparison.

I think that is what I paid for my old, crappy, wore out D700 from B&H a couple years ago.

I bought a referb for $1k at B&H sometime back.

I have an EP-2 and a friend just bought an EP-3. It is much, much snappier than mine. So much so that I will probably be upgrading soon.

Ok, well that makes sense. I just thought it was me being special.

Rob, let me reiterate. There is only a limited number of posts/topics/whatever that displays in the 4/3's forum. And only the last page. The Nikon forum behaves correctly so I don't think it is a settings problem. It is just a bit vexing, that is all.

Thanks. I set it to "all" and nothing changes. I will add the Nikon forum works fine.

I am running Safari and only 20 posts show up. Does this ever happen to anybody else? Thanks.

Turn on file sharing and just drag and drop. It's easy, it will be pretty slow but that's relative.

I bought a refurb D7000 and it has none of that nonsense. Return it.

I had a F2 for a long time. Best camera I have ever owned.

One thing about the D700 is that it is a fairly large and heavy beast, with correspondingly larger lenses than DX ones. That is the one detriment to the FX format. Hopefully its replacement will be smaller. I don't know what improvements a "D800" might have over the D700, but the D700 is one heck of a camera. I suspect I will be keeping mine for quite a while.

I bought a D7000 refurb body for $1k. I figured that was a pretty decent price.

Thanks for the responses. I suppose I need to reiterate a bit. I am a motorcyclist and storage space is a bit limited sometimes. The EP-2 is great but the EVF gets in the way sometimes. The battery life on that camera is also frustrating, due to the EVF. I think I will just let this ruminate for a while, or just stick with the micro 4/3's stuff.

I have an EP-2 that is my little, walkaround camera. I don't have any complaints except the AF is slow. For stills it is very good. Anyway, I'm sort of a Nikon guy and was wondering if anybody has handled the 1v and what did they think. I suppose I would just keep the Olympus as it is only a couple years old and works fine. But I am curious how well the viewfinder works, especially when compared with the Pen's. Thanks for any opinion.
