Working on HDR for the first time, comments welcome.

My first time with photomatix, this is a retread from another photo in
my portfolio.

Apparently I was asleep when I posted this, I have the same shot in focus. Oh well. :)

Gordon, this is one of the best photos I've seen anywhere. Unbelievably fascinating, I found myself following the fire trails to see where each one ended and the next one began. So slick.

I have been busy too, hence the lack of photos lately. I adopted a puppy and she has monopolized my time because she is a crazy hound.
Glad you liked this one. :)

I appreciate your kind words. Merlin lives at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. It was a beautiful day and he was quite charming.

Bert.. yes I did visit San Gimignano (had to look up the spelling) and it was gorgeous as well. A bit hazy though that day, so I still need to go through those shots and make something presentable out of them. The whole region is just incredible.
I do love the clouds and the sky in this shot. I took this in Pienza, it was like looking out into a masterpiece painting. Pretty unreal.

Thanks Bert. I have to admit that some of this shot had to be beginners luck... I bought my first digital slr 2 weeks prior to the trip. My sister taught me how to use it while we were there. Heck of a place to learn! It is still my favorite shot of the whole trip though... Venice was incredible.

Bert, You aren't kidding. My portfolio is a playground for me, Roger's portfolio is masterful. Looking through his stuff blew me away.

Sometimes it really doesn't take much. :)

So THAT'S what those are. I took a couple shots of these over the weekend, but I had no idea what it was. :) I'm sure I'm allergic.
On to the photo... I absolutely love it. I wish there were more open space to the left, but it's lovely just the way it is. I'm totally impressed. It looks great on the dark background.
I'm so happy I know what those things are now. ;)

Thanks Mark.
I toyed with the crop too, but ultimately I couldn't decide what to do so I went back to the full frame. Although, looking at it now, I think you're right. The upper portion of the clouds is a bit boring and a crop would make it better.
I knew I would get ripped on ratings with this one, even though it looks so much better when viewed larger. I'm glad you commented on it.. that's what I was hoping for. :)
Thanks again.
