I think it's very plausible that he's seen (and handled) the upcoming release.

Good for you, John! We has a perseid fail here in Baltimore, too.

Clara & I went to the county fair with Abe & his family yesterday. My advice is, take a DA 15 to the fair,

Also something in a bit longer--like, maybe, the DA 35/2.8 ltd macro

Looking at your stats (impressive exercise, btw), I had to think, "FA 31/1.8 or DA 35/2.8 Macro." From my pov, zooms are very useful and a great way to start out but once you've gotten a feel for what you shoot most, it's time to think about going for really high IQ at that FL. Nothing against the 55-300--it's a high value lens. I just don't think it adds much--either in terms of range or IQ--over what you've got.

More from our Quebec trip: Riviere-a-Mars--all taken with my new Sigma 8-16.

It's certainly quieter here than it's been in the past. To be honest, while I feel a sense of loyalty to p.net because it was so helpful as I was getting started in photography, I've been spending more of my on-line time over at the Pentax Forum, which I find more feature-rich, lively and useful.

I'm processing photos from our recent trip to Quebec(not done but getting there.) Here are some of my faves so far:

DA 35/2.8 Macro

I have had similar frustrations with one of my Sigma HSM lenses as well, PJ.

-

I had a DA*300/4 and didn't have any problems (that I was aware of--I tend to attribute issues to user error.) In fact, I liked it a lot. I only sold it because I was moving on to something longer (and had 300mm covered with the Sigma 100-300/4).

Late as usual (but still only page 2--I guess everyone's at the beach ;~)

For your amusement, here's a zombie heron. This is from my first outing with flash & a Better Beamer: I've got a lot to learn!
K-5, Sigma 500/4.5 & 4.5x TC.

This is a back-yard shot with the Sigma 70/2.8 macro.

That's a lovely and very meaningful photo, Kathy. I imagine it wasn't easy for you but it's wonderful that you were there to give her comfort & care in her final days.

We've got a storm approaching so l hope I can get these in before the power goes out again.

Hi Dave, love the B&W silvery tones and holes in the leaves. I'd clone out the ripped leaf in the upper right.

Thanks, Michael--bit of schmutz there. I should have brushed it away before shooting. I'll give cloning a try.

Tough assignment, Kathy--I admire your commitment.

Pentax has a rather large selection of lenses,

Sure--if you include the legacy lenses but the line-up of lenses in production has some serious gaps (and over-laps)

Have you considered exorcism?

Nice work as always, folks! Now that the power's back on, I can post a few from the past week.

Sigma 70/2.8 Macro

There's nothing worse than trashing a good legacy lens (and I speak from hard experience here--very hard experience.) It's one of those things you know St. Peter is going to bring up in the discussion of your admission to heaven.

It ain't AF, but consider the A 35-105/3.5--it's sharp built like a tank and also quite quirky.

Perhaps somebody brought the globally depressed consumer demand to their attention.

Bummer, Howard. Since this is probably not covered by warranty, third party repair (KEH or Eric Hendrickon) would also be options.

I got nuttin' this week but figured I'd check in to see what's up. It's great to see you're enjoying CR, Doug--those are neat shots The WB seems off a bit: I'm guessing that's due to processing in the field. I like the peonies, Howard and your poppy, Marcus. Also the hydrangeas, William--especially the last. It's good to see the gardens are as beautiful as they were during my time at UNCC. Rural Oregon looks a lot like Pennsylvania, John--nice landscape! I think your Ganges photo is just outstanding, Anirban!

I hope it's for the K-01 (and successors) only. I can't see how yet another fast (ish) 50 makes any sense otherwise.

Might Benjamin Kanarek have......
