  1. Your father can be very happy with this image. I like the light on his face. I think it might have been even a little better when he was turned into the light just a little bit more so his eye would have caught some light as well as the other side of his face. This light would have been perfect to make a Rembrandt lighted image.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

I don't make a lot of B&W images so I felt a bit insecure about this one but I simply felt this had to be in B&W instead of color.

Lighting this was kind of a challenge but with 3 lights and the sun it turned out the way I wanted.

It is good to see people enjoy this one, with the exception of the occasional anonymous person I see :)

  2. Absolutel lovely!

A 7/7 for me to. An image that oozes its atmosphere very well.

A pity it is critique only but with the omni-present sour anonymous 'low-raters' I can understand why.

Well done! Don't worry about getting stuck in making cliche images. Consider it to be a basis you can fall back on if you have to. A place to start from with making alterations in the way you light. The only person that can get you to remain at one place is you and from the sound of it you will not let that happen :)

Nicely done, nice toning and post processing. I do wonder if a perspective from a little bit higher wouldn't have made for a slightly better image. The elbow//arm in front would have appeared slightly smaller in that case and I would have gazed less in his nostrils.

    Still a nice image!

I like it. I like the way the light is working here. The light in the back behind her head makes sure your attention gets drawn to her face. The dark below and the light on her pants create another form of separation. Nicely done.
