Well, I really don't know in which category should I put this image...
or better, the whole kites series. Anyway... This is one of four
photos I took as an experiment. Kites, of course, almost against the
sun, and "brutally" overexposed... The idea was to represent a star
going to explode and a few spacecrafts flying from it seeking
safety... Kal-El style, somehow. Now, the result is not quite exactly
what I had in mind, however I somehow like it... So I seem unable to
decide whether I should keep it or throw it into the bin. May you help?
Critics and comments are deeply appreciated.

Again at Cervia's Kite Festival. This large kite reminded me of the
complex structure of snow flakes... I found it incredibly elegant.
Critiques and comments are very welcome.

These are Ray Bethell's acrobatic kites... He flies them all three at
once, driving one with each hand and the third one with his waist. The
photo has been taken at Cervia's Kite Festival, in Italy, about one
month ago.
Critiques and comments are truly apprecisted.
Thank you,

Cervia, Italy, 28th International Kite Festival. Plenty of people from
all around the world, people of all ages, but all of them have
13-years-old eyes... And they all are there to share their incredible
passion for kites. It's unbelievable how calm they are, how serene.
And that look in their eyes, while they play together... or even alone.
Critiques and comments are truly welcome.
Ciao.

Another shot of the nets in the Comacchio's Valleys.
Don't they look a tad like a drawing of the optical scheme of a lens? :-D
Critiques and commenta are greatly appreciated.

In the end, evrything is but made of transitions: in time, in space,
in colors... whatever. :-)
This photo too.

This used to be a fish trap. There's no fish anymore, but the trap is
still there.

A variation on a subject I already posted a photo of.

These two "trabucchi" gave me the idea of a pair of old brothers (or
even friends), that kind of people you can see on the wharf with their
fishing rods, catching no fish at all, but who cares? They sit there,
side by side, often in perfect silence, for the pure sake of being
there, together.
Critiques and comments are greatly appreciated.

"Trabucchi" is the name of these fishing barracks with large nets.
Currently they're not even working anymore... only some (very) old
guys keep coming and acting "as if" there were still some fish to
catch. But they were once a tradition and a real contribute to the
local economy... today they're dead.
Yet the places can still offer some nice view.
Critiques and comments are welcome.

Comacchio's Valleys are a sort of swamp. Shallow water, and tongues of
earth surfacing here and there... on which these large barracks,
called "trabucchi", are built. They are, or better said WERE, fishing
structures. There are large nets hosted on them. Nowadays, there's no
more fish to be caught.
Critiques and comments are truly appreciated.

Thank you all for your comments and critiques.
Giuseppe, grazie dell'apprezzamento. In effetti quel giorno tutto sembrava "sospeso".
Guido, thank you for your advice. My original idea was to use the pole on the extreme right as a "boundary", if I can say so. To have it right on the limit of the photo. Unfortunately, I couldn't... I had to make the horizon "horizontal", and the viewfinder of my D70s doesn't cover 100% of the frame. This was the best I could do. I'll try your suggestion, thank you very much.
Pep Mir, gracias por tus palabras. Eso de convertir un objeto real en un abstracto era uno de mis objetivos, y por tu comentario parece que lo logr鮠Gracias.

Again from the Comacchio's Valley session.
Is this a true barrier? It is, or is perceived, as a barrier. And
indeed it may BE a barrier, and work as if it truly were one.
Yet, a net is mostly made of empty spaces.
To me, it's a perfect metaphor of the mind traps and barriers we're
sometimes caught in.
Critiques and comments are truly appreciated.

A house I already posted a photo of. The photo is taken about half an
hour before sunrise.

While waiting for dawn in the Comacchio's Valleys I saw this fence and
wondered what the heck was it for...
...and suddenly I got a couple ideas, all of which related with the
title I gave it. :-)
Critiques and comments are truly appreciated.

A "stolen portrait", taken in Dunedin, New Zealand. I was quite far
from the guy... within a weekly market. This is a crop, about 50% of
the original file.
Critiques and comments are welcome.

Thank you Carl. Yes, it actually IS "flat". And I think this is the very thing that gave me that "day after" impression... But maybe it's just me. :-)

Again on the Comacchio Valleys, right after dawn. The grey mist and
the sun floating above the tiny line of ground gave me the impression
I described in the title.
Critiques and comments are always appreciated.

The Giant Wheel
in Performing Arts
Posted
Last one from the Cervia Kite Festival, I think... Still don't know in
which category should I post these.
Anyway... this HUGE wheel-shaped kite took one year to make. And some
serious argument with the family too... It was one of the biggest of
its kind, and I liked it (and the maker, who was a very kind guy) a lot.
Critiques and comments are, as always, very welcome.
Thanks,
Davide
