Martin H: '...spooky, expertly, crafted image...'
SPOOKY (expertly, crafted image) can be a word to describe it. I think so too. I trust your sense. -
The image is of a human eye, as Piotr says. Well, I really like the ambiguity of the face. If the author didn't want to get this ambiguity, well, I guess, he got it.

Looking at this portrait, a lot of questions pop up into my mind. What the girl is thinking about, or how does she feel? What is your idea behind? What did you want to accomplish by having a girl holding her Barbie, and having executed in that old style photo-processing?
I like it a lot!
Kind regards,
Kristina

I think you are more original than Sally Mann (whose work, for me, is an exhibitionist). This triptych and the idea behind is really something. Beautifully executed.

To me the sitters look like a brother and sister, sharing a deep emotion.

To me it is very much idyllic visualisation of this mountain. It's radiating a notion of the good old days, halcyon days.

Interestingly executed idea of Huxley. Have you ever wonder how would you feel if you found yourself, just like that transparent figure that you created in the photo?

Nice, clean elements in the composition! For me it is a minimalist approach that you created. Doesn't give me any emotions.

I am not used to looking at the details of portraits, faces. Looking at this image, I'm losing a sense for the human face. For that part it's interesting, experimenting that way, whether the photographer made it intentionally or not. Though I don't like the title of the image. Surface, texture, light and shade, colours - it's all nicely done - comparing those contrasts.

Hi John,
I guess I gave you a wrong impressions about myself. On contrary, I don't underestimate friendship. I don't feel that way. Right now I'm having an exhibition about friendship, emotions. It's called "Glimpses." Every moment that's precious, that I felt it while taking a picture, didn't last long enough. That's why I called it Glimpses. Everything that's good, doesn't last too long or forever. You know what I mean.
But, I'll absolutely give a thought about whether I underestimate the friendship or not.
Kind regards,
Kristina

It attracted my eyes as a thumbnail picture. With all these converging lines and vivid orange - gold hues makes this corner of the Hall very mysterious. I'm asking myself, what's the rest of it like?

Yet another example of how you depict moments in nature in its exulted form.

You have a great sense to depict those mountains with the moon as exultation of nature.

As a composition, it shows an overall continuity of forms against the uniform, pastel looking background. As soon I saw the image, I felt being under a lot of impressions by the lines that merge with the skimmers, making an elegant dynamic of their flight.

Well, thanks John! Anyway, I have been taking portraits of friends, of their openness and friendliness. For that part, I asked you more about the model because she seems to be open and comfortable around you just like being around someone she knows. Otherwise I wouldn't even click your image.
I appreciate intimate, friendly portraits very much. I think you really clicked the shutter at the right moment. Maybe that wasn't even your goal, after all. If you are friends with everybody, then those sort of moments are not extraordinary to you. Right now I'm only guessing.
Have a nice holiday!

Hi John,
thanks for making things clear for me. I don't know what kind of model photographs are in fashion. I was pleasantly surprised by the girl's (sitter's) friendliness. Yes, I like the portrait a lot. It has a character, personality. And also she resemblance Sophia Coppola, a daughter of Francis F. Coppola.
And, yes, lately I have asked a few photographers about their relationship with their models, with a positive frame of mind. (Did you read or track my comments then? If you didn't, then your guess was right.)
Best regards,
Kristina

You made an interesting conclusion! I haven't even read Alf' comment until now. Anyway, my husband and Alf have commented on each other photos for some time. And Alf commented on mine as well. This is all interesting coincidence. Well, if you are gonna publish a book about this artist, please include my comment about this portrait of her!
Kind regards,
Kristina

The idea is good. Although the vantage point tends to confuse at the first sight. As it did in my experience. The blonde hair in the lower right corner is disturbing as well as the boy and girl in the left side of the background. You should have framed the blonde hair woman as well, if you were technically capable of it.

It has the ethos of the '80s commercials. It really reminds me of it!

It is very inviting!

girl in white dress
in Uncategorized
Posted
Marjolein, it is a very vibrant image of the girl in a white dress. There is something special going on in the middle part of the image. The white, washed out part that is behind the girl's back. It makes for a nice contrast in relation to the girl's waist and chest. I wouldn't change it at all. Then, there is more to that special looking portrait: the girl's right hand stretching into that white, washed-out part of the image. All that play with an open aperture and a blur, makes the portrait idyllic. Like a mother's reminisce.
