Based on the white rump patch and general size, my guess would be a northern harrier ... you might see if that fits your geography. Nice shot!

Absolutely spectacular .... nothing else to be said!!

I don't see how it gets much better than this .... legs and talons extended, full flaps on wings and tail, and great clarity on the head and eye! Spectacular shot!

Just beautiful, .. you caught the perfect light at just the right moment!

Some variety of foxglove...

Nice shot, Jim! Looks like a Brown Thrasher to me.

Superb, beautiful!!

White squirrels are quite common here in our "neck of the woods" (western NC), and you can even attend a "White Squirrel Festival" in Brevard, NC. I don't think this is an albino as the eye is dark; not red as I believe it would be if it was a true albino.

Mark,
Thanks for sharing this photo! I always look eagerly at each one you post, knowing I'll be rewarded with great scenes! This one is awesome in its mood and inspiration! I also very much liked the recent ones of the road disappearing over the hills .... marvelous! Greetings from Hendersonville! Mark C.

Super shot and pose .. especially the wings! Looks like probably a Bolsa Chica shot! (We spoke for a bit on the bridge there on Sep 19 .. I'm from North Carolina). I was wondering what the "appendage" was at the back of the egret, as the pictures I took that day of an egret also had the same "appendage" ?? Is it a loose tail feather?? Would appreciate any enlightment you can give! Was great meeting you then ... always really enjoy your photography; it's superb!! Best wishes!

I don't really have a "bird" lens, but this hawk was pretty cooperative.

Jim, I am just a mere amateur, but for what it might be worth, I think I might have cropped it to a ratio of 6 x 4, rather than square, keeping all the elements in the photograph, (or maybe cropping off about the bottom 1/3 of the way you have it). Nice shot!
