David,
I usually buy from B&H, but Canon Canada offers this $300 rebate, so... I will email you.

David,
Can you give me his name? I'll call him tomorrow.

Hit Camera seem to have unbeatable prices, but are they reputable?

Why not the Canon 24-70/2.8L? It would be equivalent to 38-112/2.8 on your 30D.
It's the lens I use the most on my 20D. Great performance and shallow depth of field.

I'm looking for the best place to purchase my 5D. Must be in Canada,
because I want to take advantage of Canon Canada's current rebate on
the 5D.
I'm looking for the best deal, but from a reputable dealer.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Paul,
That's the reason why I asked Michael, as his initial reaction was prior to owning one. He's now had his own 5D for many months, and has had the chance to travel with it.

I asked Michael Reichmann from http://www.luminous-landscape.com this morning about sensor dust in his 5D, and he said: "It's turned out to be no worse than any other DSLR".

I haven't tried the 5D, but I doubt they're as useful, because they're not distributed over the whole screen, like they are on the 20D.
I ask because I'm thinking of the 5D.

The nine Focus Points on the 5D's screen are grouped much closer
together than on my 20D. Does this cause owners to only use the
central point, or are the other eight points still useful?
Thanks.
Pierre.

Canon explains this, and other things, in the Canon Camera Museum's Technology Hall:

I have the 50/1.4 and I almost never use it on my 20D. I'm sure I'd use it on a 5D.

I have a 20D, and I can't decide myself to upgrade, because of the $$$ involved even if I would then sell the 20D and the 10-22 lens.
I would do it for the better image quality (because of full size sensor) and also because I often enlarge to 13x19.
I also like my 160-640 IS (100-400 x 1.6 crop factor) lens... but I hate always having to multiply my lenses by 1.6 to decide which one I need for which job.

Here it is, according to Bob Atkins:
"The EOS 20D has a high performance shutter designed for increased reliability (100,000 cycles), the Digital Rebel XT has the normal Canon shutter (about 50,000 cycles)"
Pierre

When the 20D came out, I think I've read somewhere that its shutter was supposed to last twice as long as the 10D's shutter. I'm trying to find this information with Google. Can anyone help?

I think Canon rates it for 100,000 shots, and mine has 34,000 so far.
I hope it knows that, because I'm going to Italy in May...
Pierre

I'll soon be going to Italy for three weeks, and was planning to bring the following lenses for my 20D:
10-22,
17-40/4L,
24-70/2.8L,
70-300 DO IS
I'll also bring the tripod, of course, but probably not the 580EX.

It's called Photoshop. ;-)
Much more predictable than shooting twice on the same frame.

I first use the Giotto's Rocket (actually, I like its rocket look) and if not sufficient, I use the Sensor Brush system from http://www.visibledust.com

I use the Better Beamer, but not for Landscape Photography. You can always use the moon, if present. ;-)

The slim HOYA will be OK, but if you stack filters, it won't work, at least at 10mm.
I say this because I've tried using only my standard B+W Polarizer, and it darkens the corners.
Pierre
-
Then just don't use it. The camera will turn off automatically anyway.
Pierre
-
I've also read the the 5D's Focus Points are all packed too close to the center of the frame.

Here is the discussion about cropping the 5D's image, where I was told I'd be left with only 5 Megapixels.

I've just ordered a 5D from the nice folks at http://www.cameracanada.com and I think you can presently get as good a deal in Canada than by ordering from the US, especially with Canon Canada's $300 rebate. If you don't need a flash, or grip or lens, just get the 5D with a cheapo 50/1.8 lens to get the rebate and sell the lens afterwards...
