Here is one for discussion for those who are interested to buy a 50-200 and TC
14
If you buy a 50 - 200 (f2.8 - 3.5) with a TC 14 the cost at amazon is $ 799 +
$ 377 = $ 1176. Using a TC 14 actually makes this lens a 70 - 280 (f4 - 5.6).
If instead of TC 14 you invest approx $ 200 more and get 135 - 400 (f4.5 -
6.3) for $ 589 you will increase your range far more. So for $ 1388 you will
have a 50 - 200 and 135 - 400
So why then buy a TC 14 and not a 135 - 400 mm lens.
(All this considering a person is ready to invest 1176 already)
Thanks

All of you that are having this problem, you have to do exactly as Paul said. Turn it untill you hear the "CLICK".
I was afraid to tighten the lens hood, because after turning a certain degree it is tight and I thought that was it and I would damage the lens by tightening. HERE is what you need to do.
In order to eliminate the vignetting you must rotate the LH-61 lens hood completely until you hear the "click" noise. You can verify proper alignment by taking a ruler and placing one edge in the middle of the hot shoe and line it up with the white dash on the lens and between the "L" and "E" of "LENS HOOD LH-61" on the hood itself. It is completely rotated if all of these line up.
Its a learning experience and good to share with everybody.

Is the Sandisk extreme III card compatiable with E 500, firmware version 1.
The spec page in the ref manual says CF type I & II only. But I read in a few
places it has got the fastest writing speeds and has been tested in the E 500.
Please advise.

I do not understand the relation with the pop up flash unit and lens hood.
Please explain more as I don't use and was not using the pop up flash anytime during taking these photographs with vignetting. It only appears at focal length 17 mm or less.

This is regarding the 14-45/f3.5-5.6 lens hood. When I use this lens hood at
14 to 17 mm focal length, the lens hood shows up in the images in the 4
corners. The problem goes away above 18 mm focal length.
This may be a design mistake on all lens hood or I just got unlucky with my
one.
Your views please.

I am an ametuer having a E 500 with the standard kit lens 14-45 and 40-150
lens. After using them for sometime, I now want to upgrade to faster lenses. I
searched the net and got myself confused, and what better forum than the
expert's here at photo.net.
1) Does a variable focal length macro (sigma 18-50/2.8) also do the work of a
standard lens (zuiko 14-54/2.8-3.5) for normal photography ?
2) When we say 105/2.8 macro, this means the fical length is fixed all the
time or can be reduced and can this lens be used in normal photography ?
I was thinking for the 14-54/2.8-3.5 and 50-200/2.8 as an option, but it
depends on the above confusion I have. If these lenses can be used in place of
14-54, i will use one of these and have macro capability also.
Thanks,

Yes, your 14 -45 lens is an 28 - 90 equivalent in a 35 mm camera. You will not get a fish eye view from it. There is a 8 mm fish eye lens but costs above $600. There are some other lens 7 - 14 and 11 - 22 but they are not fish eye lens and their angle of view also differ.
Check olympusamerica.com or wrotniak.net for more information.
