1.
Since they paid $1200 (200 images x $6), I think the $18 is going to be taken as an insult. Keep it simple, send them $250, put it down to experience and move on. I don't know how you get clients but if it is anything to do with referrals from other happy customers, your business will suffer if you don't manage to keep this bride happy.

  2.
Are you going to be shooting images that would be going to stock sites and make you money? If this is a hobbyists venture, do please rethink.
Which part of India you are travelling to? Already in May parts of the country has experienced the highest ever temperature for this year. Which means, it is only going to get hotter until September. Leave bulky equipment and go there with a mirrorless camera.

  3.
So what you are proposing is basically a directory site where those wanting to buy images open up paid accounts and photographers so the same. Photographers could then be encouraged to post a project they are about to shoot and the prospective client looks at it?
Behance does have this sort of collaboration opportunity for creatives. Plus, in this day and age hiring a photographer to do any job is so easy that while your post may seem like a useful idea, there is no mass viability to it.

  4.
Hi Lia,
Your Purpleport portfolio has stronger images than the Facebook page so it maybe an idea to post some of the images from PP to FB. You are really attractive and a couple of your studio shots are interesting. My recommendation would be to work with more accomplished photographers.
What makes a better photographer in the genres you seem to be interested in? Someone who has ideas and the technical understanding to carry out those ideas. Add to this an understanding of the latest trends within the genre. The quality of post processing in a lot of the images are not quite to the standard that would elevate you as the model, to the next level. There are a couple of options. You could pay the likes of Jack Russell or Kris Karl to give you the very best of the genre or work with some of the other fantastic talents close to you who would work at TF basis. Check out the likes of TrevorR who is not a million miles away from you. PP has a search feature by distance radius. Check for how many FPIs your chosen photographer has been awarded as that sort of thing does mean they are aware of the latest tends and trends within model photography.
This is me on PP by the way.
Best wishes.

  5.
I am a professional portrait photographer and have been so for just around a year. For headshots type work I would recommend either the Canon 135mm f2.8 or the Canon 100 f2 as you have identified above. If choosing a 85mm, the Canon 85mm f1.8 second hand price is really good at present. The other option is the Sigma Art 85mm f1.4. Stellar lens.

  6. I have the following adapters for my Canon 5D

M42, Rollei QBM and Olympus OM

I am looking for a 150, 180 or 200mm inexpensive portrait lens that could be used for headshots either wide open or one stop closed down. I am seeing a

number of f3.5 200mm lenses at reasonable prices at an old camera store. The branded ones like Olympus 150mm f3.5 is quite expensive. The Voightlander

Apo-Lanther 180mm f4 is quite a bit dear but can be found if imported to UK. They are basically stay in the bag lenses that may be used if I suddenly need

something a little long. I don't mind getting a Pentax to EOS adapter either. I'd really appreciate some suggestions.

Having had such excellent results from a humble Helios 135mm f2.8 lens (which sadly has fungus after two years of use), I really want to try my luck!

  7.
I want to explore the possibility of utopian ideals or dreams influencing the photographic vision in extremely creative fashion photography. I am formulating my thoughts and wondered if anybody would like to suggest any possible readings or photographers whose works I could explore a little more. More interested in fashion photography and perhaps portraits at a stretch. Thank you.

  8.
The question is how the Rollei 50mm 1.8 compare with the Zeiss 50mm 1.7
I have been reading about both lenses and understand that the Rollei HFT coating is similar to the Zeiss T coating. I also know that early Rollei lenses were made in Germany but since 1975 they were made in Singapore. The Rollei costs almost half as much as the Zeiss. In optical performance, would a good sample from both be equal?
I have the adapter for the Rollei to use is on a Canon 5D and keeping an eye on the prices.

  9.
I know of a very successful photographer who is an alcoholic, not very sociable and lacks social skills. However, he is terrific. His work speaks for itself and many would work with this old dog because of the quality of his work. Your social skills does not sound anywhere near as extreme as the chap I am referring to. If you can afford to, hire an assistant to do as much of the interaction as possible. Also, having a second person with you could allow you to have more confident in your dealing with people.
In UK many young and aspiring photographers do either free or pittance pay second shooting jobs for wedding photographers. I am not sure if that is an option for you. It would certainly allow you to face people but without having to have too much direct interaction. It would also be a way of seeing how a pro interacts with their clients.
