A very good environmental portrait, Mehmet. Well composed. There is a touch of HDR here?

    Two goldfinches.

Thank you very much, Mike !. The window was open. Little birds are normally very shy, I was hoping to catch them in flight...but alas they are too quick..:-).

    Two goldfinches.

Shot from my study window. All kinds of birds come into our garden depending on what kind of seed you put in the feeder. This is the first year that we we have goldfinches coming to our garden attracted by this particular seed. If anybody is interested is called 'Nyger seed for wild birds'. The feeder is a man made object, therefore it does not qualify for any competitions. Goldfinches have beautiful markings as you can see also from the photo above that I shot last week.

  8. Nice texture and incredible sharpness, Supriyo. The cuddly toy is placed on the upper left third and that makes the image attractive to view. Well done.
  9. Charles, after is made the 'haloumi' cheese is normally put in jars with brine and after a time, when it gets hard you can slice and grill it or you can use it for all kinds of recipes.

    The passers by..

Supriyo, I will try to answer your questions by describing the photo as I see it and the simple technique that I used. In the colour version is clearer. The cyclist is travelling from right to left at great speed, I would estimate it to be around 30 MPH. You can see his reddish head his blurred torso and elbow and streaks of his bike black and white some thin some thick. At the back leg of the pedestrian, from the knee join downwards you can see the top back quarter of his wheel and some blurred spokes superimposed on the pedestrian's trousers. As he was travelling with his saddle raised high on his racing bike and close to the pavement the pressure of the wind he created jarred the stationary bike that was leaning against the bike rack. There is another bike rack on the right hand side and at the bottom of it there is a bike chain covered in brown plastic. I was shooting in aperture priority mode and the 1/8th of a second was already dialed in. The camera strap was shortened so the camera was resting high on my chest and I used both hands to press it against my body keeping it steady and parallel with the pedestrian on the pavement. I saw the cyclist coming and when he entered the frame I squeezed the shutter. The picture was shot in landscape mode and it was cropped to this. I must say a big thank you to you for your great interest in this shot. Warm regards.

    Sacromonte 02

There is a 'Sacromonte' in Granada Spain too. Beautiful picture Marco, the stairs leading up to the sacred mountain and the dark sky certainly an allusion to Golgotha.

  14. Mehmet, thank you very much. Saad, tradition is the wisdom of the ages. I agree with you, it looks unhygienic, but it is the best I have ever tried. Her customers were hundreds of people from all over the Island and as far as I know nobody suffered any ill effects..:-). I watched the whole process, from milking her goats and sheep, depositing the milk in stainless steel containers, strained it through a fine muslin cloth, washed her hands and finally the milk was boiled etc. Talking about the EU, it over legislates and I am not so sure that the legislators have a well informed opinion. To day the results of the referendum were announced and England is getting out of the EU. One politician called it 'Independence day'. My guess is that other member countries will follow and the EU will become a European trade union only. Thank very much you for your visit and comment. Doug, It is very nice of you to say so, thank you very much for taking the time. Pierre, thank you very much, also.
  15. Congratulations Mehmet on your FIAP MENTION and the beautiful picture my friend. I am very glad for you.

Tony, I find it very sad to see closed independent shops. I like your rendition of color.
  17. In this environmental portrait Kakou is making traditional cheese, in an environment that is not approved by the European Union....not for resale any way. Brussels have cost her her job. Thank you for viewing and any comments will be appreciated. (You can view it larger).
